Re: Saturday's Fun Run - Route Map & Info

I'm back home and I personally had a great time. Mike Barr broke a ball joint in a hard turn and instead of going around the turn went straight into the ditch and jumped a huge rock and then took out a sign. There seemed to be more body damage to his car then anything else. Mike didn't get hurt and was able to laugh about it. It was some great roads with some good turns. Mike give me a call and we'll try it again, except this time maybe we can drive a little faster.

    Fierofool:

Good idea.  I wouldn't mind sleeping until 7, myself.  Nathan, quick, send the Peach State KappaClub an email and get them to notify all their members, including the ones from North Carolina, Alabama and Kentucky that they don't need to be here until mid day tomorrow.  Soon as you get an answer, let us know what they say here on this forum so we all know what time to show up.

At the same time, contact Road Atlanta and get them to reschedule the Walter Mitty until the next weekend.  I've got something I need to do on the weekend they're planning to hold it.

No wonder the Georgia Fiero Club has trouble getting and keeping younger members.

I'm out of the club. Good luck to you guys.

Re: Saturday's Fun Run - Route Map & Info

    Rob & Mike:

Glad that both you and Mike made the trip from TN to join us early this morning. We sincerely appreciate your participation in the club and GETTING UP EARLY to do so!

Mike, it was a little hair raising there as we were the second car behind you and it all happened very fast. Something snapped you got sideways and then were catapulted into the ditch.

100 Points for the sign and 50 for the rock.

We are so very glad that you and no one behind you got hurt... ourselves included. Rob tells us it's a ball joint that went at the wrong time and mostly plastic body parts as we could see when we looked over the car with the group.

Please call Don... he said he can help with parts.

You missed a great run! But hey you have one of the greatest stories to tell at future runs, shows and general get togethers.

We are with you and please let us know if we can be of help!

You guys ROCK!! I speak for the Ga. Kappa Club when I say we had a blast and would be delighted to do another joint run. Charlie the route was awesome, much better then the run we normally do. Will for sure put this on our calendar as an annual event. I've uploaded some of my photos to putfile. There are some pretty good ones of the Fieros.

Thanks again for an awesome day.

Re: Weather Looks Good For Saturday's Fun Run

I definitely had a great time today.  Besides Mike's off-roading demo and meeting alot of nice Kappa folks(and Fiero folks too), my favorite part was that last little leg on Rt. 30!  I was  following the gray/blue Sky who was chasing a Trans-am.  That was a blast!  The pics already posted look great!  Mike, I hope you get the new paint to match!  :)

Re: Weather Looks Good For Saturday's Fun Run

For what it's worth...Got the car towed back to Blairsville and was back home in Cartersville by 4. I was dissapointed that... (1) I didn't get to finish (2) My Fiero is broken!  I was thrilled that ... (1) The ball joint chose that exact time and place to let go. (2) No one got hurt!   & (3) (up to that point anyway) we  had a great day!     I have not had time to inspect the underside for damage yet, so I have no idea what happened while that 'big'en' was rolling abound under there...but I'm hoping that all I need is a few suspension parts, a bunch of plasic....and some paint!  My insurance agent  has already told me they will "probably total" the car. I'm not sure how to handle that....maybe if someone has any experience or ideas?   .../\/\

Re: Weather Looks Good For Saturday's Fun Run

    Mike,

Sorry to hear about the accident.  I am very glad that you came out of it in one piece.  I was letting Charlie use my 88, and he noticed that I have a ball joint problem, so I am going to get it fixed next week, if he has time to go with me.  After that, you are welcome to use one of mine, if you would like.  Oh, Johnnie said hello.

Take care.  Sorry I missed the drive yesterday.  If anyone wants to come ride the train, let me know.

Re: Weather Looks Good For Saturday's Fun Run

Hey "Conrad and Beautiful Johnnie in Loganville"   ... Thank you so much for your kind and generous offer, but as you may (or may not) know ...I have other cars.... but the driveway looks so empty without that one. Hopefully, the "powder coated"  86 will be  healed and run again...but if not, there will be another one  to take it's place very soon.... probably a GT Fiero, but maybe even one of those 300 hp things we met up with yesterday...and more than likely, it will be silver!   Of course I want to go for a train ride....I love 'em...we'll talk about that later...Thanks again.../\/\

Re: Saturday's Fun Run - Route Map & Info

Thanks Ron...I really do have a lot to be thankful for....and a few regrets.....it would have been nice if Charlie had been behind me with his video camera...  a bit of advice for future runs...an extra pair of underwear in the trunk doesn't really take up that much space.../\/\

No wonder the Georgia Fiero Club has trouble getting and keeping younger members.

I'm out of the club. Good luck to you guys.

I'm sorry that you feel that way.  I think the 14 year old who rode with us, and the 16 year old girl who drove the 88 Formula (see last of Rob's pics.  The girl with the pink top) would disagree with you.  There was also a 13 year old girl that had planned to go along.

I realize that as a college student, you live in an environment that marches to a different drummer, and that realm doesn't always sync with the rest of us.  The event was started around the same time we have started driving events, for many many years, even long before you and I joined the club.  I offered a suggestion as to how you could get your sleep, and join us for the last half of the run.  I was hoping to see you there.

Hopefully, when you finish your studies at night school, you will join us again.  We've enjoyed having you as a member.  Be safe in your ventures with the MR2 and X1/9 clubs.
