Re: St. Patricks Parade March 17-Club Event-Participants Wanted

I've been very worried that we would have to drop out of the parade, due to not having someone to carry the club banner for us.  A neighbor's girlfriend agreed to carry it for us, but we were still in need of another person.  Today, Kevin McFall's daughter, Kristen agreed to help us out.  A slight problem arises, in that I can't bring both the girls down, so Kevin will bring his daughter.  Does anyone have an empty passenger seat so Kevin can ride in the parade with us?  After jumping in at the last minute to help out, I'd hate for him to have to stand on the sidelines for 4 or 5 hours.

    Please let me know.

    Charlie

What time will you be leaving for Atlanta, Saturday morning? I know it'll be early, but for me, getting there a little before that would probably be best. Then we could just drive down together. But don't go through too much problem to make this happen, transmission in the wife's van went out last week, leaving us with one working vehicle and I don't know if I'll get it fixwd before Saturday. Not a great idea to leave her without a vehicle. Mike B......

What if I come down and get you Friday and bring you up here to get the car? Then we can make our plans.

Ok that's it I'm back to one car. Clutch hydrolics trouble on the 85 GT. I'm going to save some money up and replace everything that uses fluid. Master and slave.

Well, that will save you a trip down here and back at least. That's OK though, I'm probably going to need to work Saturday anyway as I was off work Monday and Tuesday ill. Let's not get into that now. Hopefully I can get a chance to see the parade from work. Sorry things are going south, but remember, What goes down, must come up, or something!!!!!! Have fun and thanks for the offer of the ride, Mike B.....

Well, how did the event go? Did the club get two people to carry the banner? How many cars paraded? Did we get any TV coverage? Just currious as I had to work all day and was unable to see any TV coverage of the parade. Hope everyone had a great time, sorry to have not been there. Mike B......

Jonathan Rizzi and Kristen McFall carried the banner for us.  It was terribly cold, and the wind just made it worse.  They had a heck of a time with the banner, but did a good job.  We did get TV coverage.  I recognized the WAGA-TV Fox5 guy from last year.  Didn't get to see the 6PM news but it may be on at 10 or 11 on Atlanta Channels 2 or 5.

We had 12 cars, and they pulled us into the parade earlier than they usally do.  That gave us time to go back to the Olde Mill Steakhouse and have a good sit down meal and lots of chat.  A great group of people.

Thanks Craig, Ron Rizzi, Scott and Stephanie, Ron Robinson, Jack, Pat, Don, Bill and Tamara, Nathan, Roger and Brenda, Robbie, and Steve for your participation, and thank you Steve for being the coordinator for this event. Sorry, forgot John J. and his Blue 87.

Yes. It *was* cold. I was looking at the people along the parade route. Many of them looked like they were frozen to the curb. Especially the people standing in the shade. We did get some interesting comments, though. A woman was walking up the hill where we were staged. She said "I *love* those cars! I used to have one! Of course I had to ask, "What happened to it?" She said, "It quit running."  Just damn. There were a few other comments, too. Didn't hear a single negative one, this year. (I'm not counting the "Jerry Garcia!" shouted from the sidelines. *grin*)

Anyway... Thanks to everyone who came out and joined our little slice of the party. I know it was a long drive for several folks. I promise to make a better effort to get to some of y'all's events.

Charlie, I was happy to do what I could to "coordinate", but all I did was send out a couple of emails. You were still "The Man". Thanks!

I had a BLAST...you can go ahead and put me down for next year. Mike Barr, I think we all need to wear one of those hats next year. You sure made your mark in the peoples memories. All I heard were positive comments. A few people even told me I was "bad" when I'd race the engine. Even tho it was cold, I think everyone in and viewing the parade had a great time. Thank you for inviting me. I will post pix here shortly.
