No wonder the Georgia Fiero Club has trouble getting and keeping younger members.
I'm out of the club. Good luck to you guys.
I'm sorry that you feel that way. I think the 14 year old who rode with us, and the 16 year old girl who drove the 88 Formula (see last of Rob's pics. The girl with the pink top) would disagree with you. There was also a 13 year old girl that had planned to go along.
I realize that as a college student, you live in an environment that marches to a different drummer, and that realm doesn't always sync with the rest of us. The event was started around the same time we have started driving events, for many many years, even long before you and I joined the club. I offered a suggestion as to how you could get your sleep, and join us for the last half of the run. I was hoping to see you there.
Hopefully, when you finish your studies at night school, you will join us again. We've enjoyed having you as a member. Be safe in your ventures with the MR2 and X1/9 clubs.
Eh it seems like whenever I try to give my input to the club I get flat-out rejected. No one has given me a reason for why mountain runs start so early. I know every one I've been on has had plenty of time later in the day, even the LONG runs we usually have for RFTH. A little run through North Georgia and Tennessee shouldn't have a problem with it getting dark later in the day. That is the
only reason I can see for having runs so early in the morning.
I wouldn't spend my gas on a half run up there, and I wouldn't put me and my car in danger by being up there on 3 or 4 hours of sleep.
Yeah, it seems like I'm being selfish, but I have that right. I don't see why anyone would object to later runs.
My decision to leave the club has to do with that and the club meeting spot. I didn't like Olde Mill that much, but at least it wasn't as far away. I tried to get the club to check out a meeting spot closer to American Pie and The Brickery (the area where we USED to meet) but no one was interested and Charles Sewell and others said we weren't looking for a new spot. Then it seems that right after that it gets moved to Galaxy Diner, several miles further away. Yes, there's people out there who come from farther away, but gas is $3.19 a gallon and last week all I had was $8.
