New Varsity Jr. Opening. Cruise In?
« on: January 21, 2023, 03:06:11 pm »
The Varsity will be opening a new Varsity Junior on Ga. Hwy 316 in Bethlehem, Ga.  No date is set yet as the contractor says he's waiting on the equipment to arrive.

Would anyone be interested in doing a cruise-in on a weekend at their Grand Opening before the cooking oil gets stale?  If there's enough, I'll make contact with them to set it up.

I can't find any corporate contact information.  Contact links are for each individual location and Bethlehem isn't open yet, so nothing.  I've sent an email to the Atlanta North Avenue location detailing our desire and asking that they let us know if we would be welcome, and the grand opening date.

I pass by there frequently and the building and grounds are complete, but there's no worker activity.  I'll keep watch for activity assuming the only thing left is to install the equipment.

Sounds nice, I usually look for excuses to drive my 88 coupe unless it’s raining.

I passed by the new Varsity Jr. in Bethlehem on Tuesday and crews were working there.  Looks like maybe the equipment came in and is being installed.  Maybe they will be open for a May Fiero visit.  The place doesn't look like it's large enough for dine-in, but I haven't been close enough to verify that.  I only see it from a distance as I take my granddaughter to and from school or to visit her and my daughter and son-in-law.

The Varsity Jr. in Bethlehem still isn't open and I can find nothing about when it will open.  Can't find anything on google or Varsity websites.

Finally!  The Varsity Jr. on Exchange Boulevard in Bethlehem, Ga. is open.

Anyone up for a cruise in?  Probably best to do it around mid-day.  I doubt many people eat chili dogs and fries early in the morning.

When?  What day?  Saturday or Sunday?

It's right at a two hour drive for me. I'll have to make sure there are no events planned, for here.
If there's enough interest, I might make the pilgrimage. Been a while since I had a Varsity chili dog.

Steve, since you're the Way Out Man, would you be willing to choose a day?  The rest of us are relatively close.  If we were all there by maybe 1 PM and depending upon how it goes, we could stay 2-4 hours and that would give you and others time to get home at a reasonable time.

Melissa and others on a local forum are reporting that it's difficult to get into the lot at the present time.  If we bring folding chairs, we could sit in the grassy area along the entrance to the AMC Theatre.  The Varsity is actually located in the vacant lot in this image.

Let me talk to SWMBO and see what she has scheduled.
We might want to wait a while, to let the "new" (and the crowds) wear off, and let the weather moderate a bit. Old fat boys like me don't want to sit outside in 90 degree heat.

Edit - If you were confused by my previous (now deleted) comment about Sundays, I was thinking "Chick-Fil-A".   Sorry. There is no life before coffee.  ::)

Yes, October would be a good time.  September club calendar is pretty much booked every weekend.

October 14th is the club meeting day. There also is a potential (but not certain) conflict, here. If that comes to pass, I can still likely go to the normal club meeting, but being gone all day might be a problem.
Any other time should be okay.

Would the 7th or 21st work?
