Most of the stations around here are in the $1.90 bracket, but I noticed Shell and BP have already gone up as high as $2.15.

Back after 9/11, some gas stations hiked their prices in STL.  People left work to fill up, and lines were long.  I didn't go get gas, but from what I heard, this is what happened.  Anyway, the gas stations got into trouble for this, in the form of monetary penalties.

Governor Deal signed an anti-gouging bill that required stations to roll their prices back to pre-pipeline break prices.  Still hasn't happened.  Many stations near me are still at $2.35 or higher.
