There were pics posted by NASA of the space station passing during the eclipse.  In Wyoming, I believe.

The following pictures were taken from the NOAA/NASA DSCOVR (Deep Space Climate Observatory) satellite. This satellite floats at the L1 Lagrange Point, the place where the Sun's gravity and the Earth's gravity balance each other out. So it's camera is always facing the sunlit side of the Earth. These pictures show the progression of the Moon's shadow. You can see the Earth rotating on it's axis, but the shadow is moving faster.

There are three kinds of men:

1.    The ones that learn by reading.
2.    The few who learn by observation.
3.    The rest of them have to pee on the electric fence and find out for themselves.    Will Rogers

This picture illustrates just how lucky I was to catch totality where I wound up. You'll see Baldwin right at the right edge of the dark area. I was actually a bit north (to the left) of the yellow dot representing Baldwin.
If I had made it to my desired destination, I think I would have been somewhere in the area between Mountain Rest and Tamassee, South Carolina, right in the middle of the shadow.

Best Totaled Eclipse photo I've seen yet.
You can't fix stupid but, you can adjust it with a 2x4.

Well, it was nice of HarryT to offer his place, even if no one was able to make it.

Here's a couple of pictures Scott took on his phone, through his welding hood...

We viewed it from out 20 x 20 deck on the lake side of the house.  The sun was directly overhead.  It was clear all day up until the shadow was about 1/3 covering the sun, then it got spotty with blue sky for a short period every few minutes.  Fortunately it cleared up shortly before till shortly after the full coverage.  It got dark really fast,  the locusts started singing, the bugs came out and the temperature dropped.  We got a great view of the Corona.  It was very interesting and exciting to say the least.  I am 78 and the youngest were our 27 year old twin grandsons, but we were all oohing and awing.  I hope I am still around for the 2024 eclipse.  We would travel in our RV to visit friends that are close to the middle of the shadow.  Get there a couple of days early and stay for a couple of more days to miss the traffic.

Totality over, and the "diamond ring" appears (the green smear is probably from the lens)...

The "green smear" is a reflection in the camera lens of the bright spot in the image. (yes I've been into photography pretty heavily for a time too).  8)
