Fiero goals
« on: January 16, 2020, 05:55:18 pm »
My goals may seem less than stellar, but I'm slowly ticking them off.  This may seem an odd board for this thread, but it isn't as odd as it may seem.  Some of my goals are directly related to GFC.  At this beginning of the new year, here are some goals:

A place to discuss Fieros.  Check.  Increase participation.  Check.

After starting the newsletter, the goal was to get certain info out, and to learn certain things.  About half of the info has been published, either in the GFC newsletter, or in other newsletters.  The newsletter articles have certainly been informative.  Hmmm.

Attend Fiero anniversary event.  Attend Tyler Shipman Show.  Attend Fierorama.  Check, check, check.

Meet Paul M.  Also check.

Meet Hulki.  Missed.

Meet Paul S.  Check.

See Paul H.'s race Fiero.  Check.

See Fiero Factory.  Check.

Brick from Fiero plant.  Check.

Attend GFC meeting.  Check.

Drive a Fiero on Indy track.  Check.

Complete Fiero swap.  Well...

Cruise with Aerodon Fiero...

See Pace car 3.  Check.

See the PPG Fieros.  4 of 6.

See '89/'90 Fiero.

Drive Huffaker Fiero.  Check.

Drive Fiero to Fiero Store.

Drive BRP in the Fall in my Fiero.

Attend Fiero meetings with 7 Fiero clubs in 1 year.  Almost check.  This turned out to be geographically unrealistic.

Fiero at Alamo.  Check.

Local Fiero meet-up.  Check.

Drive my Fiero through the Rockies.

Make a RFTH.

Make Daytona.

Cruise the coast (California) with Jay Leno.

Drive Ford GT replica Fiero.

Own 5 Fieros at once.  Check.

Have my Fiero shown at a museum.  Check.  Check.  Check.

Participate in Niagra Falls Fiero event.

As I complete the items on the list, I move on.  What are your goals?

Neat idea.  I'll have to think about this.

Then I'll have to remember to post something!  ???

There are three kinds of men:

1.    The ones that learn by reading.
2.    The few who learn by observation.
3.    The rest of them have to pee on the electric fence and find out for themselves.    Will Rogers

Where are you getting a better dash?

Fuel leak seems to be an issue.  Have to re-fill the fuel every 300 miles or so.

I've had a better dash in the garage for a couple of years.  I just haven't been able to change them out due to various physical limitations.

My goals? In no particular order.
1. Get them both moved out to the country, in their own garage.
2. Install the "goody" taillights in the gray car.
3. Get the LQ1 installed in the coupe.
4. Install all the "power" stuff in the doors.
5. Get the coupe painted.
6. Refresh the interior in the coupe.
7. Rework the 4.9 in the gray car. (Still in the "pipedream" stage.)
8. Replace the pressure plate (at least) in the gray car, with one that allows more "take up" before it disengages. (Totally my fault. I didn't realize the HTOB Getrag required a "shorter" clutch stack to work properly. Twice.)
9. Make the California Coast run.
10. Make the Dells Run
11. Make Carlyle(sp?).
...

9. Make the California Coast run.
10. Make the Dells Run

With Jay Leno?

If you're into water parks, the Dells Run is OK.  The year we went, the Dells clearly did not want us.  Town was filthy, mostly closed, and did not seem interested in serving patrons.  Chula Vista was great, though.

There were other factors at play.  The Fiero people divided into 2 groups:  those in the clicque, and everyone else.  It didn't bother me, because the snobs were mostly irritating me, anyway; besides, the other people were more fun to hang out with.  In the middle of things, one of the snobs said something inappropriate to my wife, and she snapped.  I think she scared everyone in the room--including me.  Anyway, if you piss off my wife, you went too far.

Did you get two runs mixed together? Or am I misunderstanding your comment. The Dells Run is in Wisconsin. The California Coast Run is... elsewhere.

No.  I was replying to both items.  I have been to the Dells in Wisconsin.  I never got my trophy, but am on video there.

Years ago, I made a California Coast run in some Chrysler convertible.  I think it'd be more fun to cruise the coast with Jay Leno.  There is also a hill out there that we used to try to climb with a motorcycle.  I understand that they angled the top so anyone can climb it, now.  There are some new roads to drive down.

Sounds like a cool idea to me, and a good place for the Newbs like me to commit to something, albeit minor .
May also help others plan to join/volunteer/motivate said planner. Or, Ahem(or bring beer and distract them)ahem. :P ;D :D :D

My 87 Fiero Couple has been sitting for a few years before I got it, and is in a beaten-up, dirty condition.
So here's what my Task List looks like for now:

1st HALF OF OCTOBER (while it's still warm outside):
1) Test battery and Alternator - done.
2a) Wash exterior
2b) Clean/sanitize interiors
3) Inventory what's working, what's not
4) Take pics of whatever looks shady/needs replacing - mostly for record-keeping or checking progress of.
