Greetings from Vegas!
« on: June 08, 2019, 12:29:34 pm »
I've been out for a few days.

Tried the strip, Fremont Street, and a bunch of things.  Refused to go ziplining.

People there dress differently.  Maybe I should say that they undress differently.  You have to wear clothes to dress.  Tape doesn't count.

Checked out the Vegas Fiero Club.  Met sardonyz247.  He showed me a bunch of the stuff at the yard.
Directions are not my strong suit, and I found the place, no problem.

Vegas might be a better place to be at the moment considering what's happing with the rivers around St. Louis.  Of course, the weather in Vegas is more suitable to wearing tape, too.

2.    The few who learn by observation.
3.    The rest of them have to pee on the electric fence and find out for themselves.    Will Rogers

The weather was sunny.  70 in the am, 104 in the pm.

There is a lot of flooding in STL.  If they would stop doing idiotic things, like channeling the river and createating bottlenecks, maybe there would be less flooding.  They build levees to channel the river when it is low, therefore leaving nowhere for the water to go when the river is high.  They are forcing new areas of the river to flood.  Even as the flood plain is flooded, they are advertising to build on the floodplain.

BTW, I live almost at the top of the hill.  If the flood waters reach my house, things are rather bad. According to my GPS, the elevation here is about 80 feet greater than much of the metropolitan area.

Like me, I live less than 10 feet below the highest natural elevation in the county and that's just a mile and a half away.  But go another mile and a half and there is a new higher elevation.  We call it Mt. Gar-Bahj.

There are no mountains near me.  There are overpasses near me that are higher, and some of the mounds near them were built higher, but there isn't much near me that is naturally higher.
