Greetings from Alaska!
« on: July 29, 2011, 07:56:48 pm »
Well, as a few of you know, I have been in Anchorage since the end of June. I spoke with Charlie at the June meeting and he mentioned that it might be interesting to start a thread with some pictures and such, so.....here it is. Problem is; I have no computer here so everything is being done vias Blackberry or iPod (not IPHONE) so is there anyone that I can e-mail/text a few pictures to now and then that would be willing to post them for me? So far there is only one Fiero club I have found here and I am supposed to have lunch with the vice pres sunday. Gonna go fight the bears for my share of salmon in the kenai tomorrow I will have pics ready to send, along with a pretty nice red GT. Gotta get back to work
Robert

Hey, Robert.  Yeah, you might be enjoying the weather up there more than we are down here.  Typical August weather and it's still July.

Send the pictures to GeorgiaFieroClub@Gmail.Com and I'll retrieve and post them for you.  When you get a chance, give me a call about your car to let me know how it's going.

HA Don! You sure that was the pictures and not just an age thing? I actually sent more but Charlie was having a hard time getting them to post. I am leaving in an hour or so to Crow Creek Mine to do a little gold panning, unfortunately, that will be a lot of water too!

well, no new pictures to post yet, but I will soon. it snowed 2 inches last Sunday and has been from the teens to the high 20's. driving here stinks because they plow the roads but do not salt them because it attracts moose. You just put it in 4 wheel drive and go really slow. they do put gravel at the intersections but it doesnt do much good because the ice melts a little from the cars driving on it then it re-freezes over night so you just have frozen gravel! Drove 45 minutes north and up 1400ft in elevation and tried some snowboarding at an abandoned mine called Independance Mine in the small town of Hatchers Pass, had about 18 inches of snow there. we only came out with one injury, one of my workers dislocated his shoulder, he thought that since he went down the hill a few times, he was good enough to hit a small jump, the jump was okay but the landing...... :o. anyways our contract will be finished by next week and I was preparing to come home......WAS,but we just got awarded another contract, so looks like the next meeting I will be at will be next year :(.

will post pics later
