I can't be the only one

There was this red-headed kid someone brought in to work today.  The kid was misbehaving.  While I was taking a computer apart, he was trying to scalp me (with a plastic knife).  Later, I was working on a web site, and he brought in a supersoaker.  I told his step dad it was time to get Red Chief.  After a moment, the kid was taken info another room.

Has anyone else read The Ransom of Red Chief?

Never heard of it until now.  Just read the summary.  So, are you going to have to pay the father?

Nope.  I charged them double.  He's divorcing the kid's mom, who married the guy to get his money, so it'll come out of what she would've gotten.  It won't cost him a penny.  The mom showed up later to chew me out.  I let an 8-inch decorative tarantula land on her.  She left.

It's a great short story.
