General Fiero Discussion / Tragedy Strikes

I have had the absolute worst day ever.. I have a black 87 GT and it's my baby, I have rebuilt every single part on this car and drive it daily as it is my only transportation. Today I came home for lunch and parked up near my parents garage. I walk in the door of the house and I hear a BOOM. I look back to see that my parking brake gave way and my car rolled down our driveway and into my parents Gazebo. It hit dead center rear of my car ruining my hatch and rear spoiler, bumper and taillights. I am completely heartbroken as I had just finished restoring the car and was looking forward to being in this parade coming up. Unfortunately it looks as if I will have to put the car away for now as I am soon to be married and have a baby on the way. Maybe in a few years I can afford to fix her up again but time as well as my budget wont allow it for now. I have my dads old yard truck to drive for now but I am really sad because I wanted my fiero to be the car I drove my wife away in on our wedding in april, she was looking forward to that.....I suppose some things were just not meant to be. You guys are the best I really mean that. I will hopefully make it to a few meetings this year, just unfortunately not in a fiero.

Tech Tips, Tech Questions / Tech Advice?? Hard start Vortec 350

Although this is not fiero related I have a 96 K1500 Z71 I am trying to diagnose. So the story goes my friend uses this as a hunting truck. He got it stuck in the mud one day and then later pressure washed the engine off. Since then I have a hard starting situation only when the engine is cold. I have to turn the engine over and over to get it to finally start when cold. When it's hot it starts right up. When cold I can spray a little starting fluid in the intake and it fires right up. I have checked TPS voltage, fuel pressure, and have changed plugs, cap and rotor. All of those readings are normal. I have replaced the coolant temp sens and tried a known good MAP sensor. Still the same result. I have also replaced the oil pressure switch. No change. I'm down to concluding that maybe it's the vortec(spider) injector module as I know these things are problematic. Does anyone have any insight on this issue??? I am about damn near hands tied otherwise. the truck has about 250,000 miles and runs great otherwise. HELP!!!!

Tech Tips, Tech Questions / Fiero Store BumpSteer kit????

Just was looking thru the fiero store catalog and the bumpsteer eliminator kit for the rear seemed to catch my eye. A bit pricey I admit but has anyone out there installed one of these? Any thoughts one way or the other or possibly a cheaper alternative??? Just trying to figure oput if it is worth the money, also if I buy 1" lowering springs will I still me able to get my camber adjusted correctly on my 87 or will I have to go with an aftermarket upper ball joint???

The Market / Seat covers????

I've got an 87 GT with the silvery grey upholstery. I have a tear on the seat bottom portion of my passenger seat. The rest of my interior is immaculate! Does anyone out there possibly have a lower seat section or cover for my passenger side? I'd really hate to shell out over $400 that the fiero store wants for theirs when all I need is a lower cover on one side.

Just wondering if anyone out there has a select cable they would like to part with? I'm just south of Atlanta but can come pick it up if needed. I really would prefer not to pay the $119.95 that the fiero store wants for one! Y'all drop me a line if you can help!

General Fiero Discussion / a hard lesson learned

Here are a few pics of my 87 GT both before and after I smashed it up last Feb. I still wanna cry looking at these. Don't drink and drive kids. She's coming back together slowly as I get the time. Should be ready for paint in the next month or so! Special thanks to RobsFieros for the parts and advice! I was flying around a curve at about 70 or so and spun out. Rear end of the car hit a tree at full force and the car ended up in a ditch. Still running!!  I literally cut the car in half. The right rear of the frame was bent so bad I just cut off the whole rear clip off the car right behind the passenger compartment and welded another in off of another car. as well as the cradle assembly, all the engine mounts, exhaust, etc. I measured everything a million times over and ground all the welds smooth and repainted the entire engine compartment with black epoxy paint. When I am finished it will be as if it never happened. I probably spent more than the car was worth but I loved it so much I couldn't stand to junk it. And thank God the title is still good! Never turned it into insurance.

The Market / Trade defrost backglass for standard.

Hey guys. I am in need of a plain backglass for my 87 GT. I have a good rear defrost glass I will trade straight up for one. Any takers?? I live in fayette county just south of ATL. Y'all let me know.

The Market / Fiero Under $2000 wanted. Must run good

Hey y'all. I'm writing this for a friend of mine. She is heading back to school in Statesboro and wants a fiero. She says as long as the car is dependable and runs well she'd be interested. $2000 is her absolute max on the budget but she would prefer to stay slightly under that. Also would prefer to stay away from 84 models. Anyone got anything out there??? Let me know.

The Market / Need 87 GT Body parts

I've recently wrecked my 87 GT and I need a few rear end parts, rear fascia, decklid with spoiler or without, back glass, tail lamps, exhaust system, rear bumper supports metal and plastic as well as the rear fastback section. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
