oh yea, Don Hulse. I have dealt with him before! Good guy! Anyhow I do appreciate the advice, I went ahead and ordered the part from Rodney Dickman. Can't wait til it comes in so I can get back on the road!

that might not be a bad idea! I've been hearing that his parts in a lot of cases tend to be better. I bought a replacement for my blown factory subwoofer from the fiero store and was not impressed at all. I think it actually sounded worse than the blown one I replaced! I have heard from several people that the one from Rodney Dickman is much better!  Thank you for the tip!

Just wondering if anyone out there has a select cable they would like to part with? I'm just south of Atlanta but can come pick it up if needed. I really would prefer not to pay the $119.95 that the fiero store wants for one! Y'all drop me a line if you can help!

I dunno if it makes a difference but my rear sway bar is the one they sell from the fiero store. The one thats extremely overpriced and painted red? I didn't by the thing myself it was a gift. Otherwise it wouldn't be on my car

what kind of speeds do you guys typically run in the twisties up there. I'm thinking of coming in the spring. Only thing I have really added to my car is a rear sway bar kit and some poly bushings on the front sway bar. Just don't wanna wipe out my ride.

I live in fayette county man so if you are ever out this way you are welcome to drop by. I started out not knowing a lot myself but I can promise you these cars are not hard at all to work on or hop up. The main reason I got into them was because of the bang for the buck aspect but also because they are unique and no so common anymore. I will admit the first one I ever drove was one my buddy bought when I was about 19. He saw it on the side of the road and the price was right. he had me drive it home for him since he couldn't yet drive a stick shift. I was hooked from that day forward. I just finally got a GT two years ago. The three I had before it were four cylinder notchies.

Sorry about the wreck man. I had the same thing happen to me just a few months ago. Check out my thread "a lesson learned". I literally had to cut my car in half and am just now getting everything back together. RobsFieros had everything I needed as well as good advice. These guys on here are a great bunch to know. If you decide to either fix or build another car I have a few pieces laying around here you might can use. No major body panels, except maybe a hood. I live in Fayetteville, not too far from you I don't think. Be glad to help out any way I can. Hope you are back on the road soon!

General Fiero Discussion / a hard lesson learned

Here are a few pics of my 87 GT both before and after I smashed it up last Feb. I still wanna cry looking at these. Don't drink and drive kids. She's coming back together slowly as I get the time. Should be ready for paint in the next month or so! Special thanks to RobsFieros for the parts and advice! I was flying around a curve at about 70 or so and spun out. Rear end of the car hit a tree at full force and the car ended up in a ditch. Still running!!  I literally cut the car in half. The right rear of the frame was bent so bad I just cut off the whole rear clip off the car right behind the passenger compartment and welded another in off of another car. as well as the cradle assembly, all the engine mounts, exhaust, etc. I measured everything a million times over and ground all the welds smooth and repainted the entire engine compartment with black epoxy paint. When I am finished it will be as if it never happened. I probably spent more than the car was worth but I loved it so much I couldn't stand to junk it. And thank God the title is still good! Never turned it into insurance.

Tech Tips, Tech Questions / Re: HELP!!!
« on: September 09, 2009, 10:48:16 pm »
I almost had the same problem with my 87GT. I was out in OKC for my job training for 6 weeks when mine started leaking and my fiero was my only transportation. Since I couldn't afford a heater core nor had the proper tools to repair it I simply went to the local parts store and got a package of hose clamps and little plastic elbow pipe and just connected the two hoses together bypassing my heater core. Got me home just fine!

General Discussion / Re: 5 speed oil
« on: August 09, 2009, 09:23:43 pm »
Yea what they commonly call SYNCHROMESH fluid is actually 5w30 motor oil. I am currently running mobil1 5w30 in my GETRAG. Seems to work wonderfully. Being that the car has sat for sometime you may find that the axle seals may leak. I would highly recommend replacing them with what they call a bearingseal that I ordered from the fiero store. They are a seal with a set of needle bearings as part of it and it really does a lot to hold the axles in tightly. I own an 87 Gt as well.

The Market / Fiero Under $2000 wanted. Must run good
« on: August 09, 2009, 07:16:19 pm »
Hey y'all. I'm writing this for a friend of mine. She is heading back to school in Statesboro and wants a fiero. She says as long as the car is dependable and runs well she'd be interested. $2000 is her absolute max on the budget but she would prefer to stay slightly under that. Also would prefer to stay away from 84 models. Anyone got anything out there??? Let me know.

The Market / Re: Rear Glass
« on: July 08, 2009, 11:48:15 am »
Not in too big of a hurry, I've still to weld in the rear clip. If you get it out maybe we can meet sort of halfway in Chattanooga or something? If I couldn't find a clear one I can use what I got. Thanks a million though. Let me know whenever you get it out though.
