Power Steering cut-off switch

Does your Fiero have the switch to turn off your AC compressor during moments of high power steering load?  This is probably only an '88 Fiero thing.

I've never heard of such a switch.  Give us some information and where you heard about it.
There are three kinds of men:

1.    The ones that learn by reading.
2.    The few who learn by observation.
3.    The rest of them have to pee on the electric fence and find out for themselves.    Will Rogers

Well, I was reading the FSM...and there it was.  It went on to state that this functionality was built into the ECM, on some vehicles.

It would probably be the 88 only since that was the year EPS was to be introduced.

Is the AC cutoff in the ECU?

I don't know.  I'm guessing the ECU has knowledge in some way as to the AC because I've frequently seen ECU's listed as being for a car with AC or Cruise.  I don't know how the ECU would get its information, though.

I think the info only flows from the ECU.

In other cars, the power steering provides an input to the ECM when the wheel is turned off center. It's to maintain engine speed when the load (in this case, the PS pump) is increased. Never noticed that in my FSM, but it doesn't surprise me.

So, not in the Fiero?

I wonder if the '88 Duke has a bunch of options the '88 V6 does not have.
