you know i spoil ya
« on: September 14, 2009, 09:45:49 am »
NO MORE!!!

as some may have seen in the market section(and even in the mall on PFF), I've looking for some to trade decklids with me. but no luck. i wanted a black one without a spoiler. well i saw a picture on PFF(i believe it was one posted by whodeenie) of a fiero with the spoiler removed and plastic push rivets in the wholes. so i decide to do the same:

yea, i gotta redo the tint on the door windows

after I was done the car cover back on. i have no gas money right to drive her.

Where does one go to get these plugs?
I like the non spoiler look also!

i had some laying around. i believe i bought them autozone. they are designed to hold some interior pieces in, i.e., my cavalier had them to hold the rear dash carpet in.

i've also seen them at lowe's/home depot in the automotive hardware section

one of the side effects is that the decklid lifts VERY quickly now :)

My deck looks like that now.

Nice to know I can change the look when I want.  Makes the fastback look cleaner.

But the deck does come up MUCH FASTER.

Or disconnect the remote release.

Or hang 7 pounds on the inside of the deck...

There is an adjustment on there that Charlie and Don were telling me about that allows it come up slower without the spoiler.

I think if you wait long enough that they will reply with the how. too.

there is a pin that adjusts the tension. you have hold the torsion rod away from the pin to move it. Last time I did it I used a ratchet strap. be very very careful because the torsion rod can come loose and if it does it WILL break the back window.

It's easier to access with the deck lid removed but that makes the rear window vulnerable as Scottb indicated.  Many use several 2 x 4's across the rear window to block the tension rod in case it comes loose.  Not only are there different locations for the pins, but there are believed to be different strength rods, too.
