What happened to the NC Fiero Club?
« on: September 11, 2014, 09:00:04 pm »
Anyone know what's happened to NCFiero.com?  I've been trying to get on but everything I can find on the web leads me to an Internal Server Error message.  I tried several different paths and got the same thing.

There's not been much activity for the last 3 or 4 months.  Has it shut down?  I certainly nope not.

2.    The few who learn by observation.
3.    The rest of them have to pee on the electric fence and find out for themselves.    Will Rogers

I just tried and was able to get to the forum. You are right, not much activity on the forum.

Thanks.  That looks like the old board.  I've actually posted just a few days ago on another board regarding Run For The Hills 19.  I see nothing about RFTH 19 on this one nor none of the other posts that I've read.  Maybe they took the other new board down.  Here's what I get when I try to access it.  This was clicking a link from a Google search for NC Fiero Club.

Does Pat also handle this board?

I'd looked at this one a while back.  It seems to have dwindled to posts by ”Chug”.

There was once The Tarheel Fiero Club and there may have been others.  One of the problems is the distance to a central meeting point from anywhere and what I percieve as an unwillingness to regularly travel any distance for meetings or events.  Offhand I can name 6 from NC who have regularly traveled to Atlanta for meetings and events because NC just can't hold a club together.  Four of those were regular members and even 1 was on our board.  We have traveled up there for several get togethers and had more Georgia people than NC people.  Too bad because there are some up there that really want a local club.

How far is/was it?  Less far than to the GA club meet-up?

If you use east to west extremes of the state, maybr Greensboro might be close to equidistance.  Without enough people willing to travel, those who really wanted to be a part of a club drove down  here.  Zorro, Dan Bunker, Spirit, Cowspatoot, Fierfly, Whiteandnerdy27, and Ron768 when he lived in Fayetteville or Durham.  Spirit has made several attempts at pulling a group together for a meet and greet with only mild success.  Georgia has always tried to promote activities for Fieros.  When there isn' t interest in 1 thing, we look for something else.  Not always Fiero-exclusive.

It's not only in NC.  Fiero enthusiasm is falling all across the country.

Tell me about it.  I'd happily just get together for a meal.  Within 2 hours' drive, though.

Yes

He handlers the NC board?  I think that's the one he meant.

Only this one.
