Tech Tips, Tech Questions / Alternator comparison
« on: March 02, 2020, 10:05:59 pm »
Of course, I don't know how my original alternator worked when new, but I have been comparing my original (working) alternator to a new alternator.  The new alternator spins more freely.  The question is, is this age, or technology?

Tech Tips, Tech Questions / In-place cradle removal?
« on: February 22, 2020, 11:13:28 pm »
Is it possible to remove the cradle, without removing the engine and transmission from the Fiero?

I'm sure the engine and transmission would require support.

Tech Tips, Tech Questions / More beef in my horn?
« on: February 21, 2020, 05:57:06 pm »
I was about run over by a couple in a truck.  They were in the lane to my left, and suddenly changed into my lane.  No blinker.  I used the horn, but they ignored me.  So, I need something that will garner attention.  I'm thinking big rig horn.

As best as I could tell, the woman driving the truck that nearly sideswiped me either was ignorant of anyone being in that lane, or couldn't care less.  I gave her every opportunity to correct her ways, then she ran against an abutment.

Anyway, perhaps if she had more of a heads-up...

Tech Tips, Tech Questions / Oil pan compatibility

Will the '88 crank clear the '85-'86 oil pan?  I'm thinking the crank will hit.

Club Events / 2020 events
« on: February 14, 2020, 07:30:52 pm »
I know at one point last year, there was renewed interest in attending such things as car shows.  If we are doing any such, this year, it'd be nice to get them on the calendar.

General Fiero Discussion / Shipping?
« on: February 12, 2020, 06:43:38 pm »
I've read the complaints about shipping from TFS & RD.

Last year, I ordered all 4 control arms from TFS.  I don't recall the shipping being that bad, and that's a considerable weight and size.  Recently, I ordered $500 of random stuff from TFS, and shipping was $26.  Not bad, considering the weight.

Rodney gets unbelievable shipping rates.  I really don't know how anyone can complain about his rates.

TFF, on the other hand, has sky-high rates.

Tech Tips, Tech Questions / Inspection plate/dust shield
« on: February 12, 2020, 06:16:04 pm »
My Fiero is not entirely stock--partucularly in this area.  I have heard that there are inspection plates between the engine and transmission, but cannot find a part number.  This does not appear to be in the book, at all.  Yes, people still claim to have these.  Is there such a thing, or only on some Fieros, different on other Fieros?

Tech Tips, Tech Questions / Heat shields identification
« on: February 08, 2020, 09:25:43 am »
I have these heat shields from...somewhere.  The shields are great, but they'd be even better if I knew where they went.

Club Events / Meeting draw
« on: February 02, 2020, 12:57:22 pm »
Not exaclty a club event, but after being asked by 2 different clubs to attend meetings, this seemed relevant.

Having an agenda is always good, but I looked over the sgenda for each meeting.  Honestly, neither agenda inspired me to make room in my schedule, or the effort to attend.  Having attended meetings for those clubs in the past, I know the format.  In each instance, I had attended specifically because I was interested in the agenda items.  I discovered that other attendees also attended specifically for the agenda items.

I'm wondering if the agenda has any impact on GFC club meetings.
