Consumer vs commercial
« on: April 06, 2020, 06:47:14 pm »
My wife mentioned that the apparent shortage of paper products could be due to the fact that people are working from home, thus needing those items at home.  Supposedly, consumer and business supply chains are different, and the business supply chain slowed, due to a drop in demand.  Apparently, purchasing is non-essential, or I'd check with them.

This is a theory.

Could be.  Every company I ever worked for got their TP and cleaning and disinfecting products through a janitorial supply company.  Those companies don't sell to the general public.

2.    The few who learn by observation.
3.    The rest of them have to pee on the electric fence and find out for themselves.    Will Rogers

Maybe a company should resell to the public.

If that is true, though, hospitals should be separate from the supply at CSV.

Exactly!  A company, such as a grocery store, could buy paper products from the commercial supply, then sell to consumers.

I have plenty of TP, since I had bought my usual 18-pack of mega rolls just before this all broke out. But I was running low on paper towels. Fortunately, I was able to order some commercial paper towel rolls (meant for use in a dispenser) from Amazon. They arrived today. They are from Kimberly-Clark professional, and are a very nice quality.
Since companies aren't buying much commercial paper products these days, there should be plenty to go around for consumers, if you can get them.

I suggest everyone order Kimberly-Clark towels and tissue.  Keeps my stock value up.     :D

I couldn't find anything on Amazon Prime that would let me complete the order.  So, I did a search for janitorial supplies that went to Quill.Com and found a 36 roll case of 2 ply Angel Soft.  Limit 10 cases.  Ordered it and it will be here in 2 to 3 days.

I had a stand with 4 triple rolls, plus a 12-pack that equaled 48 rolls until I let my brother move in 2 weeks ago.  Now I'm down to a total of 10 rolls.  What I had would probably have lasted me at least a month and a half.

Here's the box of paper towel rolls I got, with my foot on the edge of the box for size reference. This ought to last me until this thing is over.

They appear to have almost everything in stock, although some items are first-responder-only.

I used the immediate approach.  I bought the entire stock of paper and hand cleaning products from a business that had closed.

Just in case, I stocked up on essentials....85 pounds of bacon, 12 family-size tubs of PB, 12 bags of sugar, 200 pounds of flour, 10 tins of oatmeal, etc.  No need for the TP to go to waste.
