So all this time and I had never gotten a real 84 Factory manual.  Heck I did not even have the owners manual.  Then I found this gem on ebay.  Just under $20...

I have it on Pennoks... I plan to move a full version over here in case it helps, but for now...

General Discussion / Patty's surgery today....
« on: May 06, 2013, 08:46:10 am »
So far so good.  She went in at 7:00.  They started at 7:55 & they say it takes about 1.5hrs.  I will let you all know when I hear back fromthe doc.

So once I got to the meeting, I had a bit of a discussion about the exhaust on the indy... I realized that I had never really said what I had.  Well believe it or not... it has no cat and the flowmaster off my 2.8 Firebird.  One in with dual outs.  I managed to cram that baby back there and piece together pieces of the birds cast off system.  It was better then the open system I had.  The indy's stock system was full of water from sitting for years and could not be used.

The bird had out grown the 2.8's flowmaster when it was upgraded to a 3.4.  It had a trueleo intake with a full port job on the remaining intake and heads.  It has a race cam and all the bolt on goodies we could throw at it.  It had a set of prototype headers and a custom 2.5 inch y-pipe to 3 in mandrel bent system flowing to a an american thunder exhaust for a 5.7 liter.  It got massive gains with the increase from a 2.25 inch pipe to 3 inch.  Here is a video of the car on the dyno to give you an idea what a flowmaster sounds like matched with a 3.4l.  The car was untuned but still managed to put down 258 foot lbs of tq to the wheels.  The hp not so great... 143... dyno guys said it was lost to the lack of tune.

General Discussion / Got a rude awakening...
« on: September 11, 2012, 02:54:40 pm »
Just when you think your safe... Well I popped on a bit ago only to promise I would be on more often.  Well as the designated litter box for the universe, the chaos can't seem to quit nipping at my toes and falling on my back.

In the beginning, it was just little annoying stuff that ate time and $...
-Dakotah (daughter) & her coo-coo significant other causing extreme drama (can you say police involvement)
-Too many cats (Dakotah bringing home new ones we really were not prepared for)
-Civic saying it was tired of bing the daily driver (little crappy things breaking, like A/C and radiator leak and a headlight that keeps on blowing and getting us pulled over by the cops)
-Patty's new DelSol to give the Civic a rest and some needed freshening up time (but the Del won't pass emissions, so no tag...)
-Mustang week (getting the car ready and gettting it to pass emissions to get tag due to bad battery)
-Mustang at Summit (getting the car there & getting pics to memorialize it)
-The yard that seems to never be done (bad landscaper)
-Sick cats (see above too many cats...LOL!)
-Dakotah gets her first speeding ticket in a school zone
-and I'm sure I'm forgetting something...

Well we kept rolling with the punches, but it meant Fiero just sits and waits... its $ just keeps going everywhere else... :(

Well then the universe & I really got on each others poo-poo list!
-Dakotah falls and has to get surgery on her hand to fix her tendon in her pinky...

And drum roll please.... time for the rude awakening!
-Our house gets broke into!  They came in through a door with a inner window into the bedroom.  No one was home.  They grabbed the 4 foot tall, over 100lb jewelry chest & ran out the front door, passing 2 laptops...
And before you ask, yes we have two 70lb dogs that make more noise then shoes in a dryer at any little thing outside!
And yes we have a monitored alarm system!
Yes the neighbors saw them trolling (3 black young men in a 90s malibu) no one called the cops.  One neighbor saw them loading the jewelry box and fleeing.  The power company saw the idiots pull over at an abandoned house in the neighborhood and take the box out of the trunk it did not fit into and try for the door of the car.  When this failed they threw the box down in the ditch and grabbed what they could and left it.  And they are still at large and breaking into houses.  And if they are who we keep hearing about, they shot a homeowner in the arm...
So just when you think you got your bases covered that happens...

Now the kicker... you know how the insurance company always warns you to be sure your coverages are adequate.  Well they don't do that for the homeowners.  We just bought the house not long ago and did not even know about a jewelry limit on our new policy.  Of course the insurance company did not say... So the end all be all is this... $1000.00 deductible and a $1000 limit on jewelry.  Well thinks to the hike on gold prices, I thought I only lost a little, turns out I lost around $18,000 in jewelry... OMG!  So the insurance is paying for a door and broken fence wow!  Well the insurance guy says he feels bad so maybe he can get the deductible waved... but ONLY if I can produce reciepts for jewelry that is over 20yrs old!  REALLY!!!!  Darn class ring company can't even come up with my order.  They say they have it if it was since 83.  Well they can't find me in 92... wtf!  the ring alone is worth $1000.00 now...

So check your policy ASAP!  Don;'t get stuck like me.  Appraise everything, just to have records.  Video or take pics of it all!

So now the insurance company is giving us our repairs less $900.00 till we prove the work is complete... then IF we can prove all our jewelry was ours somehow, they might consider waving the deductible...

This happened over 2 weeks ago
So far we are out $250 on new locks (master set missing... was in jewelry box) and we still have to rekey the rest...
we have now put blinds up everywhere in the back (live on a lake so many windows on lake side)... ($600.00)
Plywood on the door for the moment... ($60.00)

And the insurance is still quibbling about getting us money to at least sart the repairs.  Wow get robbed and get treated like you are the criminal!

General Fiero Discussion / steering wheel collar replacement
« on: August 23, 2012, 09:19:28 am »
I have a steering wheel I was interested In getting.  I plan to have it recovered for the Indy.  The only issue is the collar that is on the steering wheel base is missing.  Is this a simple fix or easily replaceable?   Please see the below picture for clarification....
I want to do it with a replacement wheel so I don't have take the indy down while I ship the wheel to Canada to have the wrap made.  I have a chance to get a Great deal through a Canadian company.

General Discussion / Our Mustang on the turntable at Summit
« on: August 09, 2012, 02:05:23 pm »
I know I have been very absent as of late.  A lot of small crisis back to back to back to back... for months.  We are doing just fine though.  Nothing has been catastrophic, just very time consuming.  I can't even remember the last time I used the home pc.  But along with some of this chaos was Mustang Week in Myrtle beach a few weeks ago and now the Stang being on the turntable at Summit in McDonough!

We promise to be back around soon!  Just have to get everything calmed down!

General Fiero Discussion / opinions needed... on indy style scoop
« on: January 11, 2012, 12:04:12 am »
I really need your opinion on this scoop.  I have been talking to a guy about an Indy scoop he has for sale.  He was asking 200 plus shipping.  Said the lowest he will go is 175 plus shipping.  He is in New Jersey I believe.

The details of the scoop:  Its for an 84 with the flat decklid (perfect for me)  The mounting hardware is incomplete and there are splits forming at the fiberglass seams at the opening (top and bottom) and some more on the body.  Seems the paint is thick and has a few chunks missing.  The edges and back mounting area are pretty rough.  Below I have included the pics and a video he has sent me of the scoop.

Ok now that I've given you a brief description of my situation...   Please can you take a look at the video and pictures and let me know if I should get it or pass on it due to the disrepair.

(I have no fiberglass experience, but some light body work experience)
If the glass repair is relatively simple I hope I would be capable of doing it. forums talk about grinding the area back on top into a "v".  Then using mat and resin to fill the "v" & using mat and resin on the back to reinforce it as well.  Is it just that simple?

----- Message Forwarded from seller -----
This is an uncut Indy scoop meaning is wasn't cut for an 85 and up Notchie.  They have the hump on the engine deck lid.  If you were to buy an Indy scoop make sure the base wasn't cut for an 85 and up decklid or will have to build it up.

the video on YouTube for you.

The white patches on some of the pics is actually where the paint flakes off.  The paint seems thick but that could be just me.  The rest if stress cracks where the two halves were glassed together.  The rest is where the scoop was hinged.  Need a little TLC there.   Looks like there was too much stress there due to the hinging point.

The Market / WTB: few more odds and ends while I'm thinking about it
« on: January 04, 2012, 03:26:40 pm »
Part I painted white... anyone have a mint one?
(mine was faded to light grey and chalky with plastic coming off... even satin black was not going to save it)
Also the part that is that aweful green attached to the glass?  anyone have one that looks decent, or does fiero store sell one... or should I just shoot it satin black?

Next...
this piece... again faded to the aweful grey and no lettering left, so I made it white :D...  any mint ones with the letters there?  No switches needed... going to do the fbody cover swap soon...

So bit by bit I'm tweeking the indy... I wanted to do a small reversible mod, but I have not messed with one of the fiero horn buttons before... so i could use some guidence from those who have. :D

First... I remember on my firebird the horn button was a pull off and pop back on.  Is it so with the fiero?  Anything to watch out for?  Are they interchangeable with any of the round style (fiero/firebird)?  So If I wanted to use a horn button from an 84 Firebird... would it interchange?

Next... See the indy logo in the cover of this pic I borrowed...

How hard is it to take the logo/badge out and put it back in?  I don't want to hurt my indy one.  I want to take my indy logo/badge out and put it in the 84 Fierbird horn button and put that horn button in the car.

Here is the horn button I want to use and put my indy horn badge in it.  Found one like this for sale from a parted out 84 anniversary car.  Guy has been trying to sell it for over a year...

The dove will love AWESOME with the indy dove steering wheel IMO... GM should have done it that way!

Thank you!
