And you think today's cars are complex...
« on: June 26, 2017, 11:14:29 pm »
The grandfather of my friend (from my Navy days) Richard Chamberlain (not the actor) owned this 1906 Stanley Steamer, which has been recently restored. Rich is behind the camera in most of this video, and the other gentlemen are the car's restorers. This video illustrates how complex the car is.
The more complex the mind, the greater the need for the simplicity of play.

Heck, that's not complex.  You don't even have to drop the tank to replace the fuel pump.  :)  Obviously Stanley was a pipe fitter or boilermakere with all that plumbing and valving.  It's amazing that all the parts were still with the car or still available for restoration.
There are three kinds of men:

1.    The ones that learn by reading.
2.    The few who learn by observation.
3.    The rest of them have to pee on the electric fence and find out for themselves.    Will Rogers

Here's another video about the car...
