Headlights not bright enough
« on: December 29, 2020, 09:46:57 am »
So I did the Fiero Store headlight conversion and that was cool. the headlights were seriously miss aimed so I did my best in a dark parking lot against a building. but i feel like the original H6054 were brighter. So I bought the Sylvania stupit bright bulbs and the fiero stores were brighter. no matter how i adjust it seems to be only shinning right in front of the car. Ideas? comments?

There are three kinds of men:

1.    The ones that learn by reading.
2.    The few who learn by observation.
3.    The rest of them have to pee on the electric fence and find out for themselves.    Will Rogers

What are the chances I installed it upside down?

Also anyone found a brighter option that doesn’t melt the wiring

If the DOT markings are at the bottom and the brand name on the lens is readable, it's not upside down.  Sealed beams have 3 extrusions on the back that align them in the fixture.

I upgraded to the Sylvania XtraVision H6054 for a little whiter light than the standard Halogen.  They are whiter but not the type that blinds everyone with their bright blue/white light.

You're wise to avoid the higher wattage lights unless you can run an inline relay.  Pat has installed LED's in his, and I think Larry's silver Formula might have also been converted when Pat had it.  Those bulbs require a cooling fan on the back of them, I believe.

I am running the low-profile H4 bulbs.  They offer more light, but aimed better.

Well, you can get the buckets from Danyl, in the newsletter vendors list.  You have to buy the bulbs separately.

Coincidentally, this would work well as an article for the Spring.  There is a series planned on lights, all the components of the headlights, etc.

What brand of H4 bulbs? I already converted the headlights.

Mine came from a different source.  My Fiero is not here, so I can't look, but Danyl has some recommendations.

Note that you will need the wiring adapter.

I ended up running rigid industries LED lamps. HUGE difference and I can't complain at all. I now have the projector beam kit to install so I might be listing my rigids soon.

Something like this, for the low profile buckets.

You want the 60mm H4.  The 90mm aren't as good.
