The Market / Road and Track Magazines
« on: February 08, 2024, 01:20:35 am »
I have 3 files folder boxs of R & T dating back to 1983 and up to 2000.  They are in great shape only read once.
When I opened one of the boxs the top one was from 1985 with an article and pictures of an 86 GT.  If anyone has
interest in them they can come and get them for free, but they must take all 3 boxs.

I took off the 86 GT I had and put the wheel on my golf cart.
You pick up here in Tamassee SC or pay shipping.  Next time I come down to Atlanta I could meet Charlie.

Tech Tips, Tech Questions / Heater core
« on: October 22, 2022, 01:21:02 am »
I don't get to drive "Thr Little Black Car " much.  I have had to use it for the last few days as I totaled our Honda CRV.  It has a strong anti freeze smell inside.  I am assuming it is the heater core.  Two questions.  How do I check to see if that is the problem and what is the easiest way to stop the coolant from going through the heater until I can afford to and am able to attempt replacing it.  I see a see a white plastic cap on a tee in one of the coolant lines under the front hood.  Is that there to bleed air out of the system?

Tech Tips, Tech Questions / A couple of small problems
« on: March 07, 2022, 02:29:07 am »
I got the Little Black Car out of the shed today.  It was the first time out in over 4 months.  It started right up and ran beautifully while on the run.  The only problems where with the radio and the door locks.  Everything on the radio works except it doesn't speak and a radio is no good if it does not make music.  What could be wrong?
The other problem is the door locks are stiff to open from outside with the key.  I am afraid the key will bend.  How do I free the lock assembly to make it turn easier.
I gave it a quick bath before hitting the road and it still looks pretty good.

« on: May 30, 2020, 01:53:32 am »
If this is not allowed, delete it, but I need a small pickup truck ( Ranger, S10, Toyota, Nissan etc.) I can not spend more than $6000. so it will be an early 2000 to 2006 model. PM me if you know of one.
Thanks;

General Discussion / Newest Topic First
« on: January 27, 2020, 02:33:11 am »
On the Posts you can make Newest First or Newest Last but when you go to topics they come up Oldest First.  Is there anyway to make the Newest come up first so you don't have to go all the way to the bottom to see the Newest?

Tech Tips, Tech Questions / Engine hatch popper stopped working.
« on: January 12, 2020, 02:55:32 am »
What generally goes wrong with engine cover popper.  It just stopped working.  If I remember correctly it does not open with the engine running only with the key on.

The Market / 1985 Fiero for parts
« on: December 02, 2019, 11:10:14 pm »
Some of you know that I started a dune buggy project a few years back. A couple of years ago I blew the clutch and gave up on the project.  I ran the engine every couple of weeks until about a year ago.  One day while cranking it something under the dash started smoking and I never tried again. I started stripping it to sell parts but I am not good at that so now I want to give some of it or all of it away before I send it to the junk yard.  Most of the dash instruments are gone.
 Fierofool will post a couple of pics for me.  It has 16" Toyota wheels that have no curb rash or corrosion that I can see.  The tires are dry rotted but hold air and the car is rollable to put on a trailer or dolly.  if someone just wants the wheels they can bring 3 wheels and tires that will fit.  I have the spare that came with the car.
The engine is a 2.8 bored to 3.1 with 3.1 heads, roller cam, headers and other goodies.  I believe the tranny is Isuzu as the shift cables come over the engine.
The interior is in bad shape.
So if someone want parts of it or all of it, come and get it.  I live in Tamassee SC a couple of hours out of Atlanta on Hwy 11, 1/2 hour off of   I 85.

Tech Tips, Tech Questions / Replacing Temp sender on V6
« on: May 05, 2018, 01:59:44 pm »
I am replacing my temp sensor on my 87 GT.  While removing the wire plug it crumbled.  Is there a source for a new plug.  The new sensor receptacle is a little deeper than the old one.
Thanks;

Tech Tips, Tech Questions / Starting Problem
« on: March 05, 2018, 01:54:27 am »
Hi All;
My 87 GT with 2.8 & Stick, ("Our Little Black Car") left us stranded for the first time in 30 years. 10 us and 20 my brother.
Long story ...  About 6 months ago when I went to start it after it had sat in the barn for a few weeks, it didn't start.  The engine spun but no go.  I pulled the distributor cap off and what a mess.  Rust everywhere and the cap and rotor where beyond cleaning.  I cleaned the rust with a scraper and a small wire brush as best I could with the distributor still in the car.  I installed a new rotor and cap, charged the battery  and it started.  The next day we went for a spirited drive in the mountains and it ran well.  We pulled into a scenic view.  I shut her off and took pictures.  When we were ready to leave it spun but did not start.  I let it sit for a few minutes and it started and ran fine all the way home.
Every couple of weeks I start it and it let it run for a while.  Yesterday I started it and it fired right up.  Today I went to get it out of the barn to go for a drive.  It spun but did not catch.  I waited a few minutes and it started up and we headed for the mountains.  After about a half hour it cut out a couple of times at about 50 MPH and then quit.  I pulled over and it would not start.  I opened the hood and checked for loose connections and all looked well.  I pulled the two plugs off the coil, they looked good.  I plugged them back in.  The car started right up, but I headed for home just to be safe.  About a half hour into our way home, it cut out a couple of times then quit.  It would not start but I did not have a flashlight and it was pitch black.  I tried it every 10 minutes or so for about an hour and gave up and called a neighbor to take us home.  I went back in about an hour to move it back closer to a building for safety reasons fpr the night.  It still would not start so there she sits.
It has the original distributor module so I will go over in the morning and pull the cap and pull the plug off the module and put them back on as I have seen suggested here before.
Charlie or whoever might have a suggestion let me know who to buy a module from.  We have an Advance, Auto Zone and Carquest fairly close, and a NAPA and Orielly  in Seneca.
If that does not solve the problem what other suggestions do you have?

General Discussion / Snakes in a Fiero
« on: November 10, 2017, 02:46:40 am »
How would a 6' snake with a diameter of a couple of inchs get into a Fiero?  When I opened the door there was a shed skin on the floor and under the seat.  He used the seat springs to remove the skin and then left the way he came in, I guess.  With a short look under and around I could see no openings in the floor.  I don't mind him coming in to get out of the weather but I wonder where his port of entry was.

« on: December 24, 2012, 08:17:22 pm »
Tim;
We are at an RV Park with broadband instead 0f our slow dial up.  I just looked at Cowspatoots videos and pictures.
You took a lot of pictures at the RFTH 17 and our Fall Run.  Did you post them somewhere where we could now look at them??

General Discussion / Sandy
« on: October 31, 2012, 12:01:15 pm »
We hope no one had any severe damage from the storm and that all our northern families and friends are OK.
We had rain the first day and a lot of wind since, but no damage other than the cloth top on our gazebo getting ripped and some branchs breaking off of some trees.  Our daughter in Newport News VA got a lot of wind and rain and a lake in her back yard but all is well.  Our grandsons at Virginia Tech got a lot of wind and snow.
So far all our Canadian family and friends have got wind, rain and snow but the main part of the storm has not reached them yet.  We hope all will be well with them.
Best wishs to all families and friends;
Harry and Karin

Club News / Fun Run for End of October
« on: September 30, 2012, 12:09:45 am »
Hi All;
I locked down the thread on my Little Black Car problem and we will now discuss a late October Fun Run here. For those that have not heard about it, we are starting to plan a run in late October coming to our house in Tamassee SC sometime during the day for cake and coffee.  We have a lot of nice Fiero roads and scenic sights here.
I have stated that we don't drink coffee so we don't even have a coffee maker so someone will have to bring one, and you have to drive a half mile on gravel to get to our place.  Other than that, welcome to our neck of the woods.
