CowsPatoot, Savet and I are going to attempt the Helen scouting trip again, as Savet obviously had issues with the Lotus and I had issues with the brakes on the 84 the past weekend.

One of these days we might actually make it.  ;D

I should have the new clearbra on the lotus at the end of this month, should we plan something for early june for another scouting trip?

When are we planning the full RFTH event?

September 16-18. Always the 3rd weekend in September.

Pat and I and several others have talked about this RFTH and where it will be located.  There was a big desire to go back to the area around Highlands and Cashiers, NC.  We discussed basing in the Clayton, Ga. area as we did several years ago.

A scouting run is possible in mid to late June.  The first week of June is Tybee Island and Pigeon Forge, the second week is the club meeting, so the third weekend is still open, I believe.
There are three kinds of men:

1.    The ones that learn by reading.
2.    The few who learn by observation.
3.    The rest of them have to pee on the electric fence and find out for themselves.    Will Rogers

At the meeting, today we agreed that the 18th of June will be our first RFTH 16 Scouting Run.  We will be starting in Clayton, Ga. with the much loved WarWoman Road and we'll wing it from there.  There is some yet uncharted territory in the itinerary and as always some good food along the way.  This won't be a rehash of the previous Bridal Veil Falls event we did several years ago.  Though it will include some familiar roads, I promise to give you something new and exciting.

As usual, when we head up to that area, we meet at I-985, Exit 16, Hwy 53, Mundy Mill Road.  There is a QT gas station just up hill from the end of the exit.  Because some come from the western suburbs, we should be there, refueled and ready to leave around 9AM.  You can Google Map or MapQuest directions to determine approximately how much time you'll need to get there.

Don't forget that June 18 is the first scouting run for RFTH 16, starting out from Clayton, Ga.  Reserve the day for some good driving fun.

Looks like I'm not going to make this one.  I will be in Sanger, TX that day ( http://www.fiero.nl/forum/Forum6/HTML/085706.html ).  I know Chris is planning to come (I think he is bringing Paul with him)...and Vince (Trinten) was going to see if he can make it.  Hopefully I can make the next scouting run.

I need to know if you're coming so I know how many maps to print up.

The forecast right now on the news says it's supposed to be a sunny day of 92 degrees, but if we have to set a rain date, it will be the following Saturday, June 25.

Savet, If you guys are coming down I-85, you can take Hwy 76 near Clemson and come right over to Clayton, Ga. rather than coming all the way down into Georgia.  Should you come down on Friday, there's a Days Inn.  We'll probably leave from the Burger King lot next door.  Everyone remember to bring their FRS radios.

I'm coming.  I may be bringing Paul, aka Tha Driver with me depending on how his schedule fits with the run.

Anne & I will be there, but most likely we will take the SUV for the scouting run and not take the Fieros until the actual RFTH

PS: Don't have have FRS Radios

I'm coming. I have an extra radio.
For those in the Atlanta area, we should meet at the QT gas station at exit 16 off I-985, on the east side of the highway. Meet at 8:30, so you can gas up, get coffee or whatever, and be ready to go at 9.

Don, it would be best to drive a Fiero so you can keep up through the curves.  I have a radio you can use.

Even a Saturn Sky has trouble keeping up with us!

Thought this was a scouting run, not a race?  ;D
