Has anyone looked to see if the 2.5 or 2.8 has the ability to add block heaters?

I seem to remember that some of the northern cars came with block heaters.  It might have been dealer installed, though.  But yes, they will accept a block heater.  Some of them replace freeze plugs.  That was the common style used when I lived in New England.

There is one that's non-invasive, too.  It wraps around the radiator hoses.  The difference in water temp throughout the system causes the water to move slowly through the cooling system.  With a thermostat closed, it probably uses the heater bypass to allow water to move.

There are three kinds of men:

1.    The ones that learn by reading.
2.    The few who learn by observation.
3.    The rest of them have to pee on the electric fence and find out for themselves.    Will Rogers

At one time I had an 84 that had a block heater installed. I believe I was told the car came from MinneSNOWta.

My '86 SE had a block heater.  I never used the block heater, but the plug cord was in the front, by the right headlight.

Some years ago, we looked at adding a block heater to a vehicle.  The kit was about $85.  I don't recall which vehicle.  Not a Fiero.  I just have some correspondence notes.  This was in the early '90's.

Block heaters are easy to add to any vehicle. Just need to know the freeze plug size to get the right heater.

Years ago, we had a hitchhiker from Canada.  He insisted that all cars had block heaters.  I disagreed, which made him claim I was an idiot who just didn't know any better.  So, we looked at all 7 cars I had at the time.  No heater in any.  The guy claimed I had removed the block heaters.  I countered that maybe Canadians added them.  So, we went to the dealership, where he was once again proven wrong.  No salesman even knew what a block heater was.  2 more dealerships.  Same result.  The Canadian claimed I rigged the dealerships
