stripping my 2.8 for anything valuable for club
« on: March 05, 2022, 02:28:01 pm »
I'm stripping down the 160K mile 2.8 from my 88GT for anything valuable to anyone here / the club.

so far pulled off all accessories and accessory brackets, sensors, TB, and upper and lower intake manifolds... anything else anyone needs? crossover, heat shields, etc???

I'm keeping the cradle for a future swap if necessary.

front exhaust manifold is cracked and several bolts are broken in block.

Still has the original transmission.. it works, doesn't slip, but 'crisp' it is not.....

Are you parting with the exhaust from the converter back?  I could use that.
There are three kinds of men:

1.    The ones that learn by reading.
2.    The few who learn by observation.
3.    The rest of them have to pee on the electric fence and find out for themselves.    Will Rogers

I could sure use a driver’s side drip rail if available. My daughter will be at the meeting Saturday if you have one. Wish I could get up to Atlanta to help with some of the projects but that is just not possible right now. Thanks

Just stripping the engine...the rest of the car, which is in pretty damn good shape structurally and paint wise is getting more or less a full restoration

Already recycled the cat but you are welcome to the rest of the exhaust...

I'm not running a cat, but if the rest beyond that is good without leaks or rattles, I'll pay you for it.  The 88 exhaust is a little different than the earlier years but it can be cut between the muffler and cross member and made to work.

Also, are you parting out the rear suspension?  Roger needs a right rear knuckle.  The one on his Formula is bent.

Good luck with the restoration. How about some before and after pictures?

It really is a spectacular car and superb engineering. I have enjoyed helping Marc with this a ton. I know he has a bunch of photos up on another site but I don't want to post it up for him.
