FS: Built 2.8
« on: March 13, 2023, 09:47:33 pm »
Going to post this here first before heading to bigger places. ;)

I am selling a 2.8 motor out of my 87 Fiero. I built this motor from the ground up 2018/2019 when I lived in New Mexico. I then drove it to Pennsylvania for the Carlisle GM Nationals to which motor averaged around 25mpg with the Getrag 5 speed and never missed a beat. I pulled the motor in 2022 to replace it with my current 4.9/F40 combo. It has just been sitting around since and I have concluded that I am not going to use it. Below is the work done as best I can remember. This was a complete tear down and build up. I will also include the ECM with the motor. It has been tuned for the removal of emissions (no SES light). Only thing it needs are plug wires, as I robbed those for another members car. Asking $500

Mileage 6,000
Motor Work:
File to fit rings, honed cylinders, new bearings (cam, crank, rods)….etc
Comp Cam 260H, Comp 1.6 Rockers, Comp 980 Springs, Comp Pushrods, and New Lifters
High Volume Oil Pump
Home Ported Heads
Ported Exhaust Manifolds with cat delete only
Black Powder Coated Intake
Dodgerunner Belt Tensioner
New AC Compressor
140amp Alternator
Dog bone w/poly bushings
Grand Prix 1.7K starter

A lot of the build for this motor can be found here:

Not for certain, but I have driven a couple 2.8's/3.4's and mine felt a lot stronger than them hands down. Definitely better than stock for sure if looking to just replace an old worn out 2.8.

Lol, that would be correct. After a few changes to the motor to better fit Paul's needs/wants he will be back on the road enjoying his Fiero once more worry free! ;)
