Flooded with new registrations
« on: August 12, 2019, 11:16:38 pm »
As of this moment, there have been 72 new registrations since August 5.  Only 1 of them has been a valid registration.  All the rest are bogus, coming from all over the world.  Russia, Ukraine, Poland, China, Japan, France, UK, and other countries.

These are too voluminous to go through and activate all the ban triggers for each one so that they are permanently banned.  Including those 71, there are 31,792 on our banned list.  All but the last 71 have at least 4 ban triggers activated so that if they come back with any of those indicators, they still can't register.

Pat, is there any way to ban these en masse?
There are three kinds of men:

1.    The ones that learn by reading.
2.    The few who learn by observation.
3.    The rest of them have to pee on the electric fence and find out for themselves.    Will Rogers

Unless they answer the Fiero questions, no registration, right.  Maybe changing the questions would help.

I wonder, though, if the answers allow too much leeway.

Since I'm already registered, I don't know how new registrations are set up.  When someone gets through, I get a notification.  I look at their information, including doing a web search to find where their IP address and where it is registered and whom it's registered to.  I also look at their hostname.  I look at these for IP information.

AfriNIC (Africa)
APNIC (Asia Pacific region)
ARIN (North America, a portion of the Caribbean and sub-Saharan Africa)
LACNIC (Latin American and Caribbean region)
RIPE (Europe, the Middle East and parts of Africa and Asia)

Right now under the last attempted registration by kfdheyzKewTwime, there are at least 50 usernames associated with the IP.  All the usernames end in Twime.  Back when Donster was president, Carpenty....... was a common registration, with the periods being extensions of the main word.  It usually ran numerically.  Don put a block on a span of usernames using Carpenty

When the quantity of new members for a given day exceeds the quantity of posts for that day, something is wrong.
