You know, those fires are bad for the environment.  Are the environmentalists turning out in droves to help fight the fires?

Going on what Fierofool posted in the other thread, carry a blanket, and a container of water.  This can come in handy, in case of fire or smoke.  Just soak the blanket, and cover yourself.

the fires jumped over our house and missed us by only 200 ft from on  the street and less than 40 ft from behind

Heard about this yesterday.  Glad you are ok and hope it stays that way.  The temperatures apparently are not helping.  Someone demonstrated by slow cooking a side of beef in their car ... Not on the engine, just in the car!!

 I was lucky enough to live in Parramatta for a few months and pootle around the blue mountains by motorboike ermm were a few years ago (2005 ish)!

the fires for us are no longer a threat
The main road is open to residents only
there is a smell of smoke in the air but  that is a result of the back burning and Hazard reduction.
Its now RAINING for a few minutes
