The Market / 3.4 and a ton of parts to go with it.
« on: February 05, 2023, 09:52:57 am »
Hey gents! Sorry I’ve been a bit scarce these days. New baby, bought a house, moved into that house, and new job have all had me tired up a fair bit.

But, I’m going to be going full steam into the Fiero again soon.

I have decided to shift gears on it and go with my 3800sc swap instead of using the 3.4 I have.

So, I’m trying to sell off the 3.4 I have, which has been rebuilt and balanced. With it, I have BOXES of new parts spanning from the Fiero store, rock auto, Rodney dickman, you name it.
If anyone is interested please let me know! Will gladly send a couple pics of the boxes and engine. Just let me know!

General Fiero Discussion / Re: Looking for a 4.9 part!
« on: May 28, 2022, 09:32:15 pm »
Found my part.

Additionally there is a blue 87 fastback gt in row 111. Behind that there is a supercharged Monte Carlo and motor looks to be complete.

Thanks for sharing the info about the 3800SC. With some help from Charlie, I was able to oull the engine and bring it home!

Looks like it was well taken care of and it had everything with it!

Also looks like the car ended up there because I was rusted to hell underneath.

Do you know what the process is to get the full engine out of that monte is?

Like how does pull a part deal with that situation?

Haven't posted and update recently so here is where i stand!

First of, huge thanks again to Gabe, who brought over his welder. We were able to fill in the start hole drilled my the previous owner and drill the holes in the correct location!

I have also swapped on the rusted out lower radiator support with a non rusty one. Bumper is off and going to be starting to fit the new champion radiator in. Also, my in laws and family all got together and bought me a bunch of parts for xmas.

So i have new radiator hoses, new radiator fan motor, new blower mortor, mostly installed. I have a new heater core which im working on getting swapped out.

Then i have the eiboch lowering spring install on the rear struts and have to tear down the fron suspension in order to install the new spring....probably going to be alot easier since i have already replaced everything in there lol

Then i have a all new fuel lines for the gas tank as well as new fuel filter and fule pump.

Next work day is gunna be a fun one lol

Tech Tips, Tech Questions / Re: 3.4 block starter holes question/issue
« on: January 08, 2022, 04:47:06 pm »
Good news today!

Gabe came over with his welder and we were able to weld up the two holes. We then were able to drill and tap the holes is the correct location using the RD jig I had. So, the starter bolts up perfect now!

now I can stress less about that and start putting the engine back together!

Tech Tips, Tech Questions / 3.4 block starter holes question/issue
« on: January 01, 2022, 05:07:16 pm »
So with the 87 I picked up, previous owner gave me a 3.4 engine.

Today I decided to get to work on the engine but….when lining up Rodney’s starter jig, to drill and tap the holes for the starter I noticed holes were already drilled.

But, the holes do not line up at all and when I bolt the starter using the holes the starter in angled and not straight…..

Am I being neurotic in thinking this block is basically fubar?

Club News / Re: THE PARTS BARN
« on: December 23, 2021, 10:10:00 am »
I'm looking for a couple things at the moment:

1. Passenger side fender with no major cracks in it.
2. fastback rear body panel (the one that has the quarter windows attached to it)

Also, I have a bunch of spare parts in my garage i would be happy to donate to the barn. Is that a things we can do?

Tech Tips, Tech Questions / Coolant hoses?
« on: December 20, 2021, 08:36:54 pm »
Ok so I’m looking at replacing all of the coolant hoses throughout the car. Looking on fiero store, and it’s a bit confusing which I need to add to cart to have them all. Does anyone have a good set list that could help me understand it better?

Tech Tips, Tech Questions / Re: Battery relocation
« on: December 10, 2021, 09:37:21 pm »
Hey guys! Thanks for all the info. After some research today, I reached out to Norm's Fiberglass and I’ll be ordering one of their kits. I’d love to remove the battery tray from the engine bay. That would give room for other extra things later on (no idea what, but more space is more space)

I’m trying to really entertain any options. The battery tray is pretty rusted out. So the options I see are these:

1. Relocate to front?
2. Relocate to the trunk?
3. Smaller battery relocated to cabin somewhere?
4. Get new battery tray and get someone to weld it in?

Just trying to find the overall best option. I do like the ideas of the battery no longer being in the engine bay, allowing more room for activities.

So I would like to relocate my battery. Mainly to clean up the engine bay. How have any of y’all relocated it to the front? And how are your cables routed? Does anyone know of a “kit” or box that works for the relocation?
