Austin, what you're describing does sound like good news.  Sounds like it's the donut gasket where the two flanges bolt together.  If that's the case, $100 might be a little high unless they're using the flat rate manual.  By the way, there is a big gap between the flanges, even when they're tight enough.  There should also be springs on the flange bolts.

thnk you for that i will look around some more then but on the good side i looked up my vin and it is a 85 gt notchback # 28029 of the 70 sum odd thousand that were made
