General Discussion / Emissions?
« on: December 15, 2012, 08:53:02 pm »
My birthday is tomorrow, so my registration is expiring. My 88GT is 24 years old, about to be 25 in 2 weeks. If I just wait 2-3 weeks until January, then register it, will it be for 2013 and I'll be paying back registration for 2012? Or can I not register it for 2013 until around my birthday next year? A friend of mine did something like this with his car but didn't explain it very well.

"Additionally, vehicles that are 25 model years or older are exempt from emission testing. This includes 1987 or older model year vehicles. If you are late renewing your registration for your birthday in 2012, your vehicle will be tested according to the 2012 rules. ""

Does that answer my own question? It seems like, according to the rules, they'd just count it as late, charge me a late fee and test me according to 2012's rules?

But that gives me another question. What if I register it as non-op for 2012? Then in a month or 2, attempt to register it as op for 2013?

General Fiero Discussion / Woodstock Fiero Shop
« on: August 02, 2009, 07:54:49 pm »
A couple of meets back there were these guys there from Woodstock who specialized in performance work on Fieros, anyone know who they were? I just got my 88 GT on the road again, but its having some exhaust issues. Basically, all the welds on the stock manifolds are cracking and the car is getting some pretty bad exhaust leaks. So much so it seems like its running on 5 cylinders sometimes. Long-tube headers from West Coast Fiero cost the same as stock replacements from the Fierostore, so I'm going to order them tomorrow. I just need a shop to do the work, and I'm not going with someone who doesn't know Fieros.

The Market / '86 Fiero GT 4spd

And 1 picture with my '88 GT, the '86 GT doesn't look that bad:

From what I can tell its a '86 Fiero GT 4-speed with a re-paint to monotone factory bright red. There's some slight body damage, stuff that won't just buff out, and the taillights+quarter windows aren't in the best shape. Maybe it runs though, with the 4-speed its a V6 for sure, so it'd be a good car for someone. I've seen it in the same spot since October, its located by the Burger Inn at the intersection of Canton Hwy and Hwy 92 in Woodstock. I don't know price or anything, if you guys are interested in the car call the number in the pictures. I'm not the one selling the car, so don't contact me about it. I tried to call the guy selling it but it was a little late and he didn't pick up, I'm pretty sure the car is still for sale if its sitting out there like that.

Tech Tips, Tech Questions / Bad oil leak?
« on: December 24, 2008, 04:07:46 am »
I think a friend of mine spoke with Don about this, but I want a second opinion or two. With my '86 Fiero SE V6, when I rev the engine it sprays oil onto the catalytic converter. Yeah, that's how Fieros usually caught on fire back in the day :o . The cat's empty though so it doesn't get that hot and it usually just smokes because the cat gets a good coating of oil from when the car starts, instead of a rod breaking and oil suddenly hitting a hot, working cat. I got the car's "emission test" with it smoking like that though and I drove it back to my Dad's just fine (carrying 2 extinguishers in the car), but I need to get it fixed. Any idea on what's leaking, before I get under the car to see? Also, my Dad lives only a couple miles from Don so I guess I need to bring the car by sometime to have him look at it, and maybe install a 3.4 8).
