Tech Tips, Tech Questions / Clutch
« on: August 20, 2019, 07:42:50 pm »
88 formula 5spd..... new master cylinder (wagner), new slave (Rodney), and new hard line (TFS)......clutch will not bleed. Gravity bleed, vacuum bleed, and pressure bleed using the pedal. Still not getting enough travel on the clutch arm. I'm about to start troubleshooting with real bullets (9mm hollow point). I do have another used rodney master and another used rodney slave. I find it hard to believe that I am in possession of 2 bad rodney slaves. Wheres my gun?

Tech Tips, Tech Questions / Brakes
« on: June 29, 2019, 06:01:42 pm »
Lets talk about brakes, pad wear to be specific. My car has been resting peacefully since last fall. Since I have been committed. ...... to the pre run next weekend I have been going through the car and doing some much needed maintenance. I was checking brake pads, on all 4 corners the outside pad is worn a little over half, the inside pad has hardly any wear at all. Why? I have never seen this before.

General Fiero Discussion / Stripper party!
« on: January 15, 2019, 08:35:28 pm »
No, not that kind  :P...... I have in my possession an 86 SE that has been totaled (tree fell on it). I would like to extend an invitation to everyone to come help me strip it. I am going to keep the cradle and some body panels, we can work out other stuff. Weekends are best for me, but this Saturday is already claimed with huney dues. Sunday is a possibilty. The car is inside the shop and I have a heater so the weather wont be a problem. What say yall?

Scott

(I promise Charlie will keep his clothes on..... maybe)

« on: January 28, 2018, 06:10:07 pm »
Just watched a movie called "the Change Up" with Jason Bateman and Ryan Reynolds...... A red Formula was integral to the story. It was filmed in Atlanta in 2011. Anyone know this car?

General Discussion / a big thank you Mr. Sewell
« on: September 02, 2017, 08:56:54 am »
I have to give a big Thank you to Charlie for providing assistance to me yesterday. I went over there to get a new distributor for my car. When I left I was heading back to this side of the lake when the Expedition broke down. I had a tie rod end fall out the sleeve. I am not sure why the threads stripped, but there I was stuck with no steering. A short call to Charlie and he was on it with tools to try and cobble it back together. No go there, so he took the time out to take me to the parts store to get replacements to properly repair it. It took about 30 minutes to get the old parts replaced and get me going again. Thank you Sir.

Expert Tech Advice / Icm
« on: July 30, 2017, 12:29:23 pm »
This weeks newest issue is an intermittent cut off. Driving along the engine shuts off. Push in the clutch, hit the key it starts right back up. I tried doing a rolling start last week and got an awful backfire. Sounded like a canon going off. Since there is no rhyme or reason to it I am leaning toward the icm going out. My question is which one? Rock auto lists 2 different ac delco icms for the Fiero V6. What is the group's suggestion?
Thanks, Scott

The Market / looking for a basket case
« on: January 21, 2017, 09:59:30 am »
Hey Yall, I am looking to do a new engine for my car (01 3100 SFI) and need a car to do the engineering on. I need this to be as cheap as possible (free is best) since it will not be put back n the road. I dont care if the front is wrecked, most body parts are gone etc. An 85 SE or 86Se or 86GT will be the easiest for me. It can be rusted too. Must have the engine cradle.

Thanks, Scott

General Discussion / This years Charity Donation
« on: December 03, 2016, 07:26:07 am »
I was thinking while going home yesterday and a brain fart....... err, storm. Im not sure if the club has made its annual donation yet, if it hasn't I believe we should do something for the folks in Gatlinburg. Perhaps a clothing drive? If we do that I will gladly load up the Expedition and take it there. Any other thoughts on this?
