I have a couple of OEM strips.
There are three kinds of men:

1.    The ones that learn by reading.
2.    The few who learn by observation.
3.    The rest of them have to pee on the electric fence and find out for themselves.    Will Rogers

So there is supposed to be a seal eh? May keep it from burning when leaves and stuff fall in the engine bay.

The OEM seal is a strip.  The aftermarket version was a pouch that connected the decklid to the firewall.  Much better.
