Well, for the first 249 miles after leaving the BBQ restaurant, everything seemed OK, with the exception of one small thing: in a construction zone, someone hit a deer. The deer fell in the one driving lane. There was no shoulder. I could drive over the deer with the wheels, or stradle the deer. I chose the later. Lots of things under my Fiero hit the deer, but everything seemed OK. I stopped to get fuel at a Marathon. As I was accelerating to merge back onto the highway, my Fiero started shaking, as if running over rumble strips. I eased off the throttle, and merged. The shaking stopped as soon as I let off the throttle. Thereafter, whenever I accelerated more than slightly, the shaking returned, but no shaking on maintaining my speed. About this time, my engine started to sound like an old VW. I ran the next 276 miles this way, then stopped for fuel. Thinking maybe I had a bad tank of gas, I filled up, then did a brief test. The shaking occured even at low speeds, but stopped when the transmission upshifted. I drove home.
I was too tired to deal with this last night. I ate, put my stuff away, took out the trash (Monday pickup), and went to bed.
