spartanzz,
when I get home, i will try to remember to re-download PIP and post a picture of mine
I just finished the paint, and although I am slightly biased, I think it looks great!! Blue and black because the car is eventually going to be a dark grey.

The Market / Re: looking for series 2 3800 for my swap!
« on: March 31, 2012, 09:03:51 am »
hey Chaz,
Because of recent events (wife lost job a month ago) we are having to move to a small apartment which means that my swap is on a VERY long term hold. that being said, I might have to sell my 3800sc to avoid selling the Fiero.

This is what I have: (from a 98 buick riviera) 3800sc, automatic trans, wiring harness, computer, 2' of the Fiero harness for the swap, and if needed, an extra cradle (from an 87). the set up has less than 100,000 miles and even though I did not hear it run, it has good compression and the pully is very tight.

I bought this from a very honest Fiero guy that I know from these forums. I saw this posting a little bit ago and did not respond because not only was I trying to avoid selling, but I wanted to sell as a package and not just the motor and looks to be a bit more than you wanted to spend...........unless you have any interesing trades ;)

Tech Tips, Tech Questions / bent crankshaft??
« on: January 14, 2012, 10:08:52 pm »
ok so it appeared that the seal around my harmonic balancer was leaking so I got a new one, took the balancer off changed it, put it all back together and was good to go.......for a couple of weeks. It started leaking again so I took the balancer off again and this time noticed a few small grooves around the shaft of the balancer, so I bought a new one and a new seal. Well last week I put it all in and when I fired it up, I got a bad loud knock that seemed to go away at around 2000rpm. Well, since I also replaced the belt with one that was obviously too big, I thought it was just the belt slapping and decided to fix it this weekend. I took the belt off and tuned it over ( to verify belt) still knocking! Thought maybe the pulley was slightly crooked, took it off and noticed some faint grooves starting on this one and a section of the seal torn, I took the pulley off, turned it over and.....knock, knock knock!! guy at aitpzpme said the original balancer went bad messing up the seal but it did not vibrate or knock because it balanced itself to the bad pulley and the new one tried to run it straight.

This does not make much sense to me for these reasons: no vibration, runs great, no codes, and no obvious metal in the oil ( drained it tonight to look at it)

I really need some guidance, until my wife's car gets fixed, this is my daily driver,

I do have a 3800sc to put in, but it is far from ready

HELP!

Sweet, yea, I know how that "life" thing goes, I was supposed to be back from Alaska in Septeber and taking some good Photos by the lake, but Alaska had other plans so I had to trust my foster son to take a few pics.  ::)  No problem, if not this year, it will be painted by next!

just to put in my 2cent, I went with black carpet, this is the stuff you get at wal-mart as "auto replacement carpet" I have been using it for years to cover speaker boxes and I did a mustang with it and it looks great (partly because I dyed the rest of the Fieros carpet black) to get around the issues Charlie brought up I just brushed all the crumbley stuff off then brushed on a coat of fiberglass resin, the carpet has no backing so the glue works awesome and it has a little streach to get in the corners with no wrinkles.
