I would like to do the scouting run on March 21. Lots of stuff is beginning to happen and that's one of the dates I will be able to do the trial run. It's just a one day thing, so who wants to go along?
Depending upon how my shoulder is, I may have to ride along with someone.

Pick me! Pick me!!!!!
-
Starting where, going where?
-
Paul, we will probably start in Dawsonville for the trial run and travel up through Dahlonega to begin the route. Final starting point will be determined by the best hotel prices between Dawsonville and Dahlonega. Our destination will be Gatlinburg, TN.
Anyone coming up through Gainesville could pick up with us at the end of Ga. 400 at the intersection with Hwy 60. Mike21 could couple with us in Morganton at Hwy 60 and US 76.
-
Or...... meet at my house, I am 10 minutes from Dawsonville
-
Wasn't your house hard to find?
-
I can probably go on the trial run.

The house no, shop yes..... house and shop are at 2 different places. The shop cant be seen from the road
-
3 people for 3/21?
-
So far three people, two cars. I don't have mine back yet. Not sure I could handle the curves even if I did have it.
-
Can you drive?
-
I can drive my truck and can probably drive the car but I can't make sudden moves or moves requiring a lot of force with my left arm. My left arm won't lift high enough to go to the top of the steering wheel. I'm good on straight roads and normal curves but I'm not sure how I'd do on sharp curves and switchbacks. Especially at any speed.
I did get a call this afternoon from John telling me the car should be ready by this weekend. They repainted the whole right side.

It would be wheelie cool to have the AeroDon car on this run. ;)
-
Yes. This won't be an all-out run. More laid back.

Are you still doing the trial run with the latest on the virus? I'm referring to the request of the Feds to avoid discretionary travel.
-
Absofreakinglutely........ it is necessary travel, believe me
-
We will meet at the McDonalds in Dawsonville, corner of Hwy 53 and Ga. 400. We need to depart by 9am with full tanks of gasoline. Schedule your arrival and fuel fillup accordingly.
We must meet someone in Tellico Plains, TN at a prescribed time, so we need to pull out by 9AM. Tellico Plains is our first fuel stop.
I will bring rubber gloves for handling fuel pump nozzles and entering zip codes or pin numbers on the keypads. I have a surgical mask but I don't have any to spare for everyone.

The travel and tourism industry must love this. Of course, if the airports would abide by the guidelines, rather than just go through the motions...
My wife and I were just speculating on the fate of this run.

I had thought RFTH was a GFC event.
-
It is
-
The trial run is still scheduled with minimal contact with the public. Pay at the pump and go. Drive thru at Hardees in Tellico Plains for lunch. Go sit in the overlook on the Cherohala Skyway and eat.
-
I have to cancel my participation Saturday, there is a possibility I have been exposed to the virus through work.
-
Sorry to read that, Scott. Stay well!
-
For the time being the scouting run is off until a later date yet to be determined. I think we need to wait and see how this is going to play out.

Saturday was a nice day for a drive.......
-
Apparently everyone went to lake lanier. My boat buddies said they had not seen so many at the launches since high summer. Said it was very choppy due to 15 knot winds and so many craft on the water. My prop is out getting a tune-up so we did a short nature hike at a city park, there were quite a few folks out, mostly 25-45 age group with dogs, few kids except ours and no older folks.

Saturday was a nice day for a drive.......
We went for a drive, Saturday evening. Didn't leave the vehicle. Just got out of the house. Not much traffic. Think Christmas drive-through, without traffic or lights. Hmm. The Zoo should do this. We ordered pizza, and sprayed it off well. The pizza was hot, so we had ice cream, afterward. My ice cream was a double banana split with fudge, cinnamon, and caramel.
Sunday, we had snow. The flakes were very large (about 2" in diameter).
