General Discussion / Re: Drive By Shoot-em-up
« on: December 08, 2023, 05:03:27 pm »
The cell phone store next to the Marietta Diner where we used to meet was riddled with dozens of bullets in a drive-by, it was just reported on the news.

And Saturday afternoon after we left Luckey's BBQ Place, down the street at the intersection near the Valero gas station, a road rage shooting.
Oh no...hope everyone is okay, and no casualties :(.
Things are getting out of hand :(. I attend some bike and car meets close to my home (these are not big, well-run ones like Caffeine and OCtane). Some of these are pretty informal and some of them, like "Project 85" are run by a few individuals and they advertise the location only a few hours before on their instagram or discord channels. (perils of social media, meh).
They advertise "no hooning, no burnouts, no loud revving" but I hear that almost every other meet, it attractes the attention of enforcement, or they are not welcome at that venue anymore etc.,
And whenever i cruise by there, i see a LOT of younger people with guns. the ones that come on motorcycle don't even secure thier firearms or keep them lying on the seat or in their helmets, or let others hold it while they suit up.
I shake my head and roll my eyes.
Twice this summer, there were heated arguments and verbal threats made, both parties and their clubmates were "strapped". People are just that stupid and have short fuses and don't think of consequences or think things out :(.

General Fiero Discussion / Re: Has anyone seen your Fiero today?

I had to move my Fiero outside for a few weeks, while I reorganize my garage. Ordered a car cover. Coverd it up, it rained a couple of weeks ago and got a bit dirty to look at (visually). I have half a mind to troll people and affix a few Lamborghini or Ferrari labels on the cover and put up a sign that says "Classic car. For sale to a good home, for 2 Bitcoins. Have to pass a car trivia/quiz first, score triggers as discount." or "Guess the car from the silhouette, win free beer" :D.

General Discussion / Re: Happy Halloween Birthdays
« on: October 30, 2023, 08:50:40 pm »
Thanks for the early birthday wish. As a kid a Halloween birthday was the best - and it still is. Our family has been blessed with the birth of our first grandchild 2 1/2 years ago on my wife's birthday and it looks like my older daughter will be giving birth to our second grandchild either Monday or Tuesday - Halloween!
Happy Birthday(s), Anne and Tim!
That's good news... halloween babies are the bestest :).Good luck to your daughter!

I would not trust 18-year-old tires just like I wouldn't trust 18-year-old "self"! lol

I know... right?
ionowatchumean Sir. We're all still barely-legal 18yr olds here :). Our fieros help us feel that way. They're prime humanblood on a full moon night, to our vampiric-selves.

;D
Just to protect everyone in the case of a potential attack in the future, i want to make it clear that emails originating from me would read
"Greetings, <insertnamehere>

I find myself hitting rock-bottom. I was at Walmart, grocery shopping, waiting at the check-out line, browsing facebook marketplace, and 3 hours later I'm in Jacksonville, FL bargianing the purchase of a Fiero. Can you, o kind sir, find it in your heart to transfer 145 GFCCoins to my account? I can't let this beauty go...I pinkyswear I'll stop adding more vehicles to my garage after this one"

OR
"Hey man, I'm in jail. I just couldn't let the C8 Corvette guy berate Fieros like that. Someone had to punch him, amiright?? Anywho, please transfer 0.8 GFCCoins to my lawyer for bail money. I will return it right after I get released, track that sob down and set fire to his "car""

:D

If anyone would fall for this, they certainly deserve it. I mean, come on, it's been going on for years now and everyone has been warned about such things.  ::)

Now the terrible part is, this has somehow pushed into our website stuff.
sorry to dig up an old topic but this made me chuckle :D. i used to work at a credit union/banks and there are still many that fall for this. all backgrounds;

i say we introduce a new GFCCoin to fight spammers! :D
gift cards = spammers. actions taken: ban/delete/mark as spam/report.
GFCCoins = member argued with wife/girlfriend about the fiero again and is in the doghouse. actions to take: invite him over to drinks!

Sounds nice!
Just want to attend but can't do either of those dates... :( Got work tomorrow and Earth Day saturday.

What will the schedule look like on the scouting run April 23?

What we discussed at the planning session is that we will start in Dillard, Ga. travel through Highlands and Cashiers, NC, and have lunch near Canton, NC.

After our lunch stop, we will proceed northward through Hot Springs, NC, briefly entering into Tennessee and traveling almost to Erwin, then back into North Carolina, and making our way down to Burnsville, NC, then ending in Asheville, NC.  From there, we will return home via I-26 and I-85.

This is the primary run.  The sightseers' run will separate from us in Cashiers, using an alternate route to arrive at the lunch stop.  From the lunch stop, they will head east while the primary group will head north.  The sightseers will access the Blue Ridge Parkway to Asheville, then exit and head northward through the country and mountain valleys to Weaverville then back down to Asheville.  This scouting trip will be done on another date.

Sweet!

Sorry I missed you.  Was in Fitzgerald, GA this morning and haven't been on the site since Tuesday.

Going out to Hollow Creek Distillery in Leesville?
No worries!
Drove down with a couple of friends to buy an adventur bike. (he sold his lovely and comfortable Harley to get this abomination.) - midlife crisis :D . The seller was one of the group of 3-4 adventurers who "founded"/mapped the South Carolina Adventure Route (SCAR) I think.

Our original plan was to imbibe some local liquor but it rained briefly a couple of times and as we were riding it back to Atlanta, we decied to start back and stick to the highway. We got to spend some time at Lake Murray and loved it..would return in the summer...The Hollow Creek Distillery will be on our list :)

Budgetman72 (Jason Spencer) and I will be doing a scouting run for RFTH 27 on April 23.  Again, this year there will be a White Knuckles Run and a Sightseer's Run.

Jason and I will be holding a planning meeting this Saturday, March 19 at 1PM at the Applebee's on Steven B. Tanger Blvd, Banks Crossing, Commerce.  Jason will be leading the White Knuckles tour in September and on the scouting run, but we need someone to lead the Sightseer's Run.

Come join us for this planning session.  It will be a beautiful day for a Fiero drive.  Bring the lady and do some shopping nestdoor at Tanger Outlet Mall before or after the meeting.
Sounds nice!
