General Discussion / Internet connection: soon I will not have one...

Well I finally got DSL. After not getting it for a year because several of their tech guys said it wouldn't work with ANY of my operating systems. It's great. Now I can't get windstream to correct my bill. I've been trying for a couple years, & they just keep getting worse. So, after an hour on the phone with them, I told to turn EVERYTHING off. So if you email me & don't get a reply, that's why.
I'm going to try to save up my money & get satelite access.

General Discussion / Anyone know of a good free CD ripper & burner software?

I just installed a burner (the old one quit) in this 'puter. The old box I was using for CD copy just didn't cut it (too slow & too many buffer overruns). So I'm looking for new software.
On an unrelated note: does anyone have a *copy* of XP Professional? I just need a copy as I have a computer with it & have the key, but it won't boot up (I want to re-load it).

General Discussion / PLEASE!!!!

I've asked everyone here to delete my email addresses (particuliarly my alltel address) from their address book. This morning before going to bed (at 3:20 AM), I checked my email as I always do. Just a quick check before going to bed. Well someone from the club sent me an email: after waiting TEN MINITES for it to download I lost my connection (as I almost always do on this LOUSY alltel/windstream connection). So I re-connected. Sit & wait. FIFTEEN MINITES later I loose my connection again. So I re-connected. Sit & wait. After a total of OVER FIFTY MINITES of waiting for this email to download, I find out it's of someone's goddamn CHRISTMAS LIGHTS!!!! So I'm now AN HOUR LATER GOING TO BED for f***ing NOTHING!!! 
THEN, I get up this morning & check my email again. ONCE AGAIN, someone sends me an email with a LARGE FILE. Sit & wait. TEN MINITES later I get disconnected. So I re-connect. Sit & wait. THIRTEEN MINITES later I get disconnected. So I re-connect. Sit & wait. After a total of about FORTY MINITES it finaly downloads - & ONCE AGAIN it's someone sending CHRISTMAS ^%!). Gee THANKS! 
If you don't recall (or didn't hear), I also am now getting SPAM because of someone here OPENING A SPAM EMAIL, & CLICKING ON A LINK IN THAT EMAIL. 
So please, PLEASE, PLEASE everyone DELETE my alltel address from all of your address books! I don't need the stress, & I have BETTER THINGS TO DO WITH MY TIME OTHER THAN SIT & WAIT FOR CRAP LIKE THIS TO DOWNLOAD!.

As most of you know (I would hope), Peter opened a SPAM email & then CLICKED ON A LINK that sent an email to Reunion.com that sent them EVERY EMAIL ADDRESS IN HIS ADDESS BOOK!!! Of course, you know what that means: the spammers now have EVERYONE'S email address & they're KNOWN GOOD ADDRESSES so we are ALL going to get SPAM email FOREVER from these a**holes!
Most of you probably use some kind of SPAM filter so you don't have to deal with it. I don't: I hand delete my SPAM so that the software dosen't put GOOD emails in the SPAM folder. How can I do that? Well I NEVER post my full email address on the web, & I NEVER RESPOND to SPAM AT ALL - so I don't get that much SPAM. I've had folks not get my email because their software put them in the SPAM folder. Dosen't happen on my watch.
I'm ALREADY getting TWICE the SPAM in my Yahoo address, & of course getting SPAM in my alltel address too (which I was not getting ANY AT ALL before!). The ONLY other time I got SPAM in my alltel address was when Eric posted my address on the old forum. I caught it within a month, spent several HOURS posting to get it knocked off the bottom of the forum, & still got about a hundred SPAMs from that. NOW my address is PERMENENTLY listed & will be SOLD to SPAMMERS for YEARS!
Gee - THANKS Peter!!! It's probably going to cost me HUNDREDS of HOURS deleting SPAM emails before it drops back down from my non-responding!
PLEASE everyone: REMOVE my email addresses (BOTH of them) from your address book!!! If you want to save them, put them in a TEXT file in your Georgia Fiero Club folder. Every time I get emails from the club, I get them at BOTH addresses, & then someone clicks on "respond to all" & I get THAT in both addresses. Then someone else responds the same way...
Sorry, but I have to put an end to the SPAM as much as possible & BS like this from Peter just set me back several years!
