The Market / Deck Lid Torque Rod
« on: June 12, 2020, 08:42:31 pm »
I am in need of a deck lid torque rod for a lid with a spoiler.

Mine snapped yesterday. Almost cost me a pair of pants.

Mine is its happy self again. Easy swap. PITA to get to it tho. I've also checked it with a more reliable tach and it's on the spot! Kudos to WCF.

Tech Tips, Tech Questions / Re: Best way to find a power drain
« on: May 10, 2020, 02:18:52 pm »
Take a 1 amp fuse.
Put it in a socket where high amps would be drawn (power window; etc.)
Is it blown? Good!
Now solder a 12vdc lamp to the back side of the fuse.
With the car NOT RUNNING and ignition OFF, one-by-one insert this into each fuse socket.
When the lamp glows you've found the circuit that's draining your battery.

Tech Tips, Tech Questions / Re: A/C conversion
« on: May 10, 2020, 02:05:58 pm »
I followed Charlie's recommendation on the Nylog Blue when I did my conversion and it worked great!
I did much later, develop a leak that I found to be coming from the receiver-drier input side. I had the folks at Sims Radiator check that out when I had them install a new water pump and t-stat and they found that 1/2 of the gasket was AWOL. They replaced it and used Nylog Blue, recharged the system and I can now keep meat frozen again.

BTW, How'd the car run on the way home from the meeting?

I've got a bad case of Fiero Fever and not enough money for the cure.

I spun more freely when I was new. ;D

I'd go with the newer bearings in the new model, not technology.

That trunk light WILL kill the battery. And NO, I will not tell you how I know. I replaced mine with a nice LED.

I've never noticed because mine haven't leaked so I haven't touched them.

What did you use to clean yours? They look near new!

If they were going too sell something 'fancy' you'd think they could grind down the weld and make it smooth. ???

Doesn't matter to me if it's moved.
