The Market / gotta sell my 87 Duke notchie 120,000 miles
« on: May 03, 2013, 05:14:26 pm »
well, the good news is....I have another son on the way!! bad news is....I gotta sell my ride for something with a back seat.

here are a few details:
1987 notchback with the 4cyl.
it is an automatic and has only 120,500 original miles. when I got it I replaced a front fender, hood, front bumper cover, and engine vents.
I also added the removable sunroof (only leaks if you don't put it in right),a spoiler (modified from an 88 Supra), shifter knob, Grant Gt steering wheel, and the push button trunk release. I also dyed the carpets to be solid black.

the car runs fine and has been my daily driver for the past 2 years, I just put on new brake pads, pcv valve, and a few other things.

here are the bad things:
parking brake is no good (surprise surprise)

someone broke out my passenger window to steal my stereo, so now the passenger side glass needs to be tinted to match the rest of the car, also the stereo surround is gone. (I will include a sony stereo that's works but needs a wiring harness that is $10 on e-bay)

the left side turn signal lenses are gone, but the signals work.

needs a paint job because every time I replaced a body panel, I shot it with satin black primer.

I am only asking $1700 obo because that is what I need to buy the other car I am looking at.....maybe a trade....make me an offer to get me close??? (I also have a 1984 Virago VX700 for sale)

I will post pictures this weekend after I clean it up a bit, in the meantime, if anyone is interested, I can text whatever pics you want.

call or text Robert 678-787-4059

PS. I will be letting this go with some spare parts, including but not limited to: driver and passenger door skins, aftermarket hood scoop, aftermarket push button HOOD (front) release........

The Market / 3800SC series 2 swap
« on: May 10, 2012, 04:39:05 pm »
Well, after alot of sleepless nights, I have decided to sell my stuff that I have gathered for my 3800 swap.

here are the details: series 2 3800sc from a 1997 Buick Riviera with 89,000 miles.(painted and ready to go)
I have the engine, transmission (auto that was bolted to engine), wiring harness and computer (both from donor car).

also with this I am including an extra cradle and 2' wiring from an '87 Fiero (the part you need to splice to the 3800)

my plan was to build this thing on the spare cradle, then just put it in as one unit for less downtime.

i decided that I really would rather have another motocycle than the 3800 right now so P.M me for price.

gonna post pics in a few minutes

I have a few more pics, just gotta scale em down a bit.

scaling done here are all the pics:

Tech Tips, Tech Questions / bent crankshaft??
« on: January 14, 2012, 10:08:52 pm »
ok so it appeared that the seal around my harmonic balancer was leaking so I got a new one, took the balancer off changed it, put it all back together and was good to go.......for a couple of weeks. It started leaking again so I took the balancer off again and this time noticed a few small grooves around the shaft of the balancer, so I bought a new one and a new seal. Well last week I put it all in and when I fired it up, I got a bad loud knock that seemed to go away at around 2000rpm. Well, since I also replaced the belt with one that was obviously too big, I thought it was just the belt slapping and decided to fix it this weekend. I took the belt off and tuned it over ( to verify belt) still knocking! Thought maybe the pulley was slightly crooked, took it off and noticed some faint grooves starting on this one and a section of the seal torn, I took the pulley off, turned it over and.....knock, knock knock!! guy at aitpzpme said the original balancer went bad messing up the seal but it did not vibrate or knock because it balanced itself to the bad pulley and the new one tried to run it straight.

This does not make much sense to me for these reasons: no vibration, runs great, no codes, and no obvious metal in the oil ( drained it tonight to look at it)

I really need some guidance, until my wife's car gets fixed, this is my daily driver,

I do have a 3800sc to put in, but it is far from ready

HELP!

General Discussion / Greetings from Alaska!
« on: July 29, 2011, 07:56:48 pm »
Well, as a few of you know, I have been in Anchorage since the end of June. I spoke with Charlie at the June meeting and he mentioned that it might be interesting to start a thread with some pictures and such, so.....here it is. Problem is; I have no computer here so everything is being done vias Blackberry or iPod (not IPHONE) so is there anyone that I can e-mail/text a few pictures to now and then that would be willing to post them for me? So far there is only one Fiero club I have found here and I am supposed to have lunch with the vice pres sunday. Gonna go fight the bears for my share of salmon in the kenai tomorrow I will have pics ready to send, along with a pretty nice red GT. Gotta get back to work

Tech Tips, Tech Questions / control module??
« on: June 28, 2011, 09:00:57 am »
S0 the day before I left for Alaska, I was at Walmart getting some supplies and when I went to leave, she started up just fine, ran for about 10 seconds, then died. it's getting fuel but not spark. I checked the 2 fusible links by the battery and they showed good. So my question is: are there other fusible links that I am missing? I have a friend who towed it to his house and although he is mechanically inclined, not so much on Fieros. He is going to attempt pulling the ignition control module and having it tested but I want to make sure it isn't something simple first. I am still in Alaska and need this running when I get back (it is my daily driver) it is an 87 notchie with the 2.5 automatic. So if anyone has any advice, parts, or just feel like turning some wrenches;) please let me know, Thanks

Robert

« on: April 24, 2011, 07:35:37 am »
Okay so the three cracks in my windshield have finally crossed the finish line and now I need a windshield. I have an 87 notch, my first question is: will any year fit? And second question is: anyone have one? Any recommendations would be great!

Tech Tips, Tech Questions / brake problems
« on: March 15, 2011, 11:02:08 pm »
Hey all, so I finally got my 87 notchback running, it has been sitting in a guys yard for 4 years and when i bought it he said "it ran when I parked it, but the brakes feel a little funny" well when I looked they were all worn down almost to the metal. I bought new pads all the way around, put em in, bled them all, topped off the fluid and.......still go all the way to the floor, and sometimes the "brake" on the dash comes on, I pump the brakes and it goes off! the master cylander and booster look fairly new as does the proportioning valve. am I looking at having to bleed the master cyl? please let me know, I really want to get this thing tagged and on the road tomorrow

Thanks
Robert
