There are two types.. the regular and the performance.  I am trying to find info on which type, reg or performance is used for the swap.

Cant seem to find much info on it. Apparently there's 2 different calipers, the plain old grand am calipers and the performance grand am calipers...

Tech Tips, Tech Questions / Re: extremely high idle
« on: June 07, 2015, 10:58:15 pm »
Thanks for the feedback all. Found a pretty horrendous vac leak from the egr tube by spraying carb cleaner and listening for rpm change. Gonna rob another tube from one of the parts cars and reset the iac tom after work.
Hopefully that completely sorts out the idle issues.

Tech Tips, Tech Questions / extremely high idle
« on: June 07, 2015, 12:03:43 pm »
Hey all! Ok so I got the fiero to finally start and run but am now dealing with an extremely high idle.
when the car is cold it will seek between 1k and 3k rpm before warming and settling right around 3k.
I have pulled and cleaned the iac and ran the "stick the finger over the iac hole to see if it dies test" which it does. The car has the original egr so im going to change that out.. Anything else I should look at? All help is much appreciated.

Hello everyone my name is Iain Nicholson.  New to the forum and proud owner of a 87 fastback Gt with 75000 miles, and 2 parts cars. I picked up the 87 a few months ago out of Fla, towed it home and got to work. After chasing off the electrical gremlins, rebuilding the distributor, adding a shiney new starter and alternator the car will now start but not idle. Am going to change the iac over to the 88 model, set the timing and hope that fixes the problem.

Once the engine is running like it should I will rebuild the suspension, and breaks, add new wheels and tires and send both the car, and delaminated tail lights off for paint.

Hope to meet everyone at a club meeting soon!
