General Discussion / Former Club President Michael McDonnell

Michael's wife Carol called me this morning to tell me that Michael passed on Wednesday, December 13.  Services will be delayed until January due to the holidays.  I will have visitation and funeral arrangement information soon and will post it here.

Club Events / January 2024 Meeting

Our January 13, 2024 meeting will be 10 AM at Luckey's BBQ Place, 2365 Powder Springs Road.  There will not be a February meeting and we will reconvene in March at the 57th Fighter Group Restaurant at Peachtree DeKalb Airport.

Club News / NEW 2024 MEETING PLACE COMING FOR MARCH--EDIT: MAKE THAT MAY

WE WILL HAVE A NEW MEETING PLACE BEGINNING MARCH 2024
To have a wider choice of food items, Charles investigated several locations and presented them to those present at the December meeting.  The restaurants suggested were Cracker Barrel on Delk Road, Marietta, Three Dollar Cafe, Chamblee Tucker Road, Tucker, and 57th Fighter Group, Clairmont Road, Peachtree Dekalb Airport, Chamblee. 

After a short discussion, a motion was made to move to the 57th Fighter Group at Peachtree Dekalb Airport, beginning with the March meeting. 
Motion by Jason Spencer
Second by Pat Swayne
All resent voted unanimously Yes. 

At previous meetings there were discussions of changing our meetings to every other month, starting in January 2024.
That meeting will be held at Luckey's BBQ Place at our regular 10 AM meeting time.
There will not be a meeting held in February
Then we will meet at the 57th Fighter Group in March.  Time to be determined at the January meeting and it will be posted on our home page.

Club Events / December 9 Club Meeting and Elections

The December 9 Meeting will again be at Luckey's BBQ Place, 2365 Powder Springs Road, Marietta. 

The meeting starts at 10 AM with lunch after 11 AM. 

This is the meeting when we must elect our 5 members of the Board of Directors for 2024.  You may vote in person at the meeting, by proxy through another paid club member, by email through the club email, or by phone during the meeting.  You may vote for 5 persons.

I will post a list of those who have offered to serve as we get closer to the meeting date.

The cell phone store next to the Marietta Diner where we used to meet was riddled with dozens of bullets in a drive-by, it was just reported on the news. 

And Saturday afternoon after we left Luckey's BBQ Place, down the street at the intersection near the Valero gas station, a road rage shooting.

Club Events / November Meeting and Election

Our November meeting is November 11, 10 AM at Luckey's BBQ Place, 2365 Powder Springs Road, Marietta, GA. 

At that meeting, we are to select the club officers for 2024.  At this time, only one person has submitted their name for consideration. 

We need five members for the board. Without officers, the club cannot exist because we are a Georgia Not For Profit Corporation and we are required under the Charter issued by the Georgia Secretary of State's Office to have officers to operate the company.  Think about it. Is that what you want?

General Fiero Discussion / Unsettling News

I put this in Fiero Discussion because this man was Fiero when he was a member of the club.  Those of you who have been around for 6 or 8 years will know Michael MacDonnell, former club president and owner of Northlake Automotive where we held so many tech sessions.

Scott Brown informed me that he received a call from Michael to let us know that things aren't looking good for him without a God-given miracle.  Michael had been having continuous headaches that the normal pain meds had no effect upon.  He finally went to a doctor and found that he has a brain tumor.  I understood that it's inoperable but he's undergoing or will be undergoing chemo and radiation.  The prognosis isn't good without that God God-given miracle.  They estimate 8 to 12 months. 

Please put him in your prayers.  I know they work in this situation as I have another friend who was stage 4, stopped treatment and turned to his Lord.  He's been cured for more than 5 years.

General Fiero Discussion / New Forum Member Needs Help

88MedRedGT is from Jasper and has just joined our forum.  He's in need of someone in his area that can work on his car. 

There was a mechanic who built the engines for Whodeanie that lived in Jasper.  He's the one who salvaged the remains of the Joel Project car and other things from Whodeanie's Customs.  Anyone remember his name or have his contact info?
