The Market / For Sale: Jacking Instruction Decals
« on: February 25, 2009, 10:05:06 am »
I have about a dozen of the jacking instruction decals that apply underneath the front hood, just above the jack mounting point.  These are exact reproductions for the 85-88 Fiero.  They will work for the 84's, but the design was slightly different in 84, for those who want to be exact with their restoration.

Cost is $10.35 each with postage included for up to 2 decals, anywhere in the US.  Contact me by PM, post here, or email me at cmmsewell at g mail dot com  I accept personal checks or money orders, only.

Club News / ALL PONTIACS AT THE FORGE '09
« on: January 26, 2009, 07:23:53 pm »

Each year the Georgia Fiero Club has attended the All Pontiacs At Pigeon Forge Car Show, we have used the National Parks Lodge as our hotel of choice.  This hotel offers rates at about 50% of the rates charged by the Music Road Hotel, which is where the car show is held.  The host hotel has charged in the area of $150 per night, in the past years.  National Parks Lodge has generally been under $80 per night.

The National Parks Lodge is just across the street from the car show.  In addition, the Great American Buffet is located in the parking lot of the National Parks Lodge.  At the time of signin at the lodge, you are given discount tickets for your meals at the Great American Buffet.  They have a wide selection of food at all servings.

If we have at least 10 cars enter the show, the club will arrange for further discounts at the hotel.  If you plan to attend, whether entering the show, or not, please indicate in this thread.  The link to the National Parks Lodge is:   http://www.nprlodge.com/

Check the Events Calendar for show and registration information.

Club News / Atlanta St. Patrick's Day Parade
« on: January 13, 2009, 12:17:16 am »
We've received our 8th invitation to drive in the Atlanta St. Patrick's Day Parade on March 14.  The deadline for registering is Feb. 1.  You don't need to be a member, or from Georgia.  There is no entry fee for you.  If your car cleans up well, we'd like to have you in the parade.  This is on the day of the regular meeting, and the meeting is cancelled but we will return to the Galaxy Diner after the parade.

Please contact me so I can get a count of cars for the registration form.

You may not know, but a few years ago, the Georgia Fiero Club filed a letter of incorporation with the Georgia Secretary of State's Office, as a non-profit organization.  The benefit of this was three-fold.  It gives the club members a break on hotel rates and entry fees to many events, and in some cases, entry fees are waived entirely.  Money raised by the club is tax exempt, up to a certain point.  Incorporation protects the club members from liability, in the event that there are any injuries or accidents at a club sponsored event.

Club membership dues cover the calendar year, from January 1 to December 31.  By becoming a paid member in good standing, you are entitled to the above benefits.  You are also allowed a voting voice in the club, whether by absentee, email, or in person.  You have a hand in the operation of the club and its events.  If you know of anyone who might not be aware of our club, please pass this along.  We also welcome non-dues paying associate members.

Yearly membership dues are set by the club charter at $25.  If you would like to be a member of The Georgia Fiero Club for 2009  2011 2012 2013 2014 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019 2020 2021 2022 2023 please send a check or money order to our club secretary at

The Georgia Fiero Club
287 Park Place

Or you can pay your dues through our Club Merchandise section at the left of your screen.  All who pay after the annual Run For The Hills will be given the remainder of the year plus the next year at the same price.

Membership decals will be mailed to you shortly after your dues are received.

Thank you

General Discussion / WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE TO DO THIS YEAR?
« on: January 02, 2009, 09:23:30 am »
HAPPY NEW YEAR, EVERYONE!
With the new year, we will be setting up the events calendar very soon.  We would like to know what type events you would participate in.  Not just events you would like to see, but ones you would actually participate in, either as an entrant or spectator.  Cruise-ins at the burger and wing joints, car shows, weekend cruises, visit other Fiero Club meets, tech and repair sessions, poker runs, group runs at a road course, fun runs into the mountains?

Expert Tech Advice / Bad Alternator? Don't be so quick to replace it.
« on: October 01, 2008, 04:54:20 pm »
When my Brother's alternator failed on his 86GT, I promptly called the auto parts to order a replacement.  The young woman who answered the phone and took the order told me that there was a Technical Data Bulletin on all Fieros regarding the alternator charging circuit.

She warned that she didn't want to sell me an alternator because once installed, she couldn't take it back.  She said that the technical bulletin advised that on all Fieros, the charging circuit runs through the battery light bulb on the instrument panel.  On all cars with the auxilliary voltage/oil gauge pod atop the front center console, it's inside the voltage meter just above the battery symbol.  When the ignition is turned to the "ON" position without starting the car, the bulb should light up showing "VOLTS".

On all others without the auxilliary gauge pod, it's in the speedometer/tachometer pod.  When the ignition is turned to the "ON" position without starting the car, the bulb should light up showing "BAT" and a battery symbol.

If you have power in your battery and these indicators do not light up, try replacing the bulb first before replacing the alternator.  It could save you some bucks, and in the case of an automatic V6, a whole heap of time.  If the bulb is blown, it will not charge.  Even with a good alternator.
