the original rubber pipe, factory filter housing, and "bong" had to have deaden the sound. anyone care conduct an experiment by disconnecting the rubber intake hose, and crank the car. the sound occurred either just above idle when warming up and when comming off the throttle when driving(keep in mind, mine is an auto).
i'm a little concerned about the cross over pipe, I may try to twist the intake tube towards the rear to get it away from the heat. possibly buy some heat tape.
i didn't notice a increase in HP( i wasn't expecting it to). i DID notice deep, throaty sound, and little bit better throttle response.
i also had to do a little fabrication. the end of the tube behind the vent, originally point the filter straight down. i cut it at an angle to point the filter more towards the vent. and even though the inner fender well does prevent some water from getting the filter, its exposed directly underneath. i searched the shop and found a piece of tin and fabricated it to cover the underside... couple of pop rivets, and problem solved
