87GT Tuneup
« on: March 26, 2020, 04:56:32 pm »
I'd like to hire one of the club members to replace my plugs and wires.  Any takers?  My place or yours.

2.    The few who learn by observation.
3.    The rest of them have to pee on the electric fence and find out for themselves.    Will Rogers

No exposure, yet?  The coworker's wife tested negative?

I was wondering if that was why his response indicated non-interaction.

He has enough room in the shop that we need cell phones to communicate.

Its been 25 years since I have done one (pretty sure it has not changed how you do it) but you are welcome to come on down to beautiful Chamblee, garb a chair (and a beer if you partake) and meet the rest of the family while we wait for it to cool a bit.  No disease here! (that the new slogan?)  Easy fix.  I'm working from home, as always, and have a decent back log to keep us busy for the next few months but have tons of free time as I'm the boss! Anytime is fine here.

Once I am in the ware house (April 1 move in) I could likely help.

Thanks, everyone.  Scott made the offer first, so I'll get with him for a time.

With the stay at home orders, I've been taking little trips outside to work on the car.  Trouble codes said 33 and 45.  MAP Sensor and Rich Exhaust, O-2 sensor.

I replaced the MAP sensor with a known good used one.  No change.

So I buzzed over to AutoZone and got a new MAP and O-2 sensor.  I installed the O-2 sensor first as it was the cheapest part.  No change.  I was still getting the 33 and 45 codes then suddenly the 33 and 45 went away and a 44 came up.  Lean exhaust.

Looking around, I found a broken vacuum line from the MAP to the fuel pressure regulator.  I repaired that, but I kept getting the code 44 every time I cleared the ECM.

Back down to AutoZone and get a Coolant Temperature Sensor for the ECM fuel management.  No more trouble codes.  So the new MAP sensor was never installed and will be returned.

Still needs the plugs and wires removed from the passenger seat and installed in the engine, though.
