Have you detailed your Fiero today?
« on: July 04, 2020, 02:45:25 pm »
Being that it's Independence Day, my son and I gave my Fiero a good hand wash.

We got all the bugs and accumulated dirt off.  The dirty-looking things you see are blemishes in the paint.  We got all the water spots off the windows, and gave the interior a good vacuum to get rid of bits of grass that were on the mats.  A mud dauber had built a nest under one of the mirrors, and there were cobwebs in the back, so we cleaned those up.  Since I drove my Fiero yesterday, no idea how cobwebs were already connected to the tires.

I used about a teaspoon of soap with 2.5 gallons of water.  That was about half a teaspoon too much soap.

I have a popup frame where I can throw the canopy on it when I'm working on the car during the day.  If there's no car parked in it, I walk through going to the trash cans or my truck.  Believe me, it only takes a few minutes for a spider web to get strung.  I couldn't determine how a spider could cover the span so quickly.

Last summer we were infested with the Joro Spider.  An import orb-web spider.  I have trees on either side of my driveway with limbs at least 50 ft apart.  They had webs spanning between them.  They use air currents to drift their webs across spans.  I watched as one would throw out a fluffy ball of web and let it carry a strand until it attached to something.

I am beginning to see these little orb weavers starting to appear again around the house overhangs.
There are three kinds of men:

1.    The ones that learn by reading.
2.    The few who learn by observation.
3.    The rest of them have to pee on the electric fence and find out for themselves.    Will Rogers

Those spiders are an invasive species.  Just like kudzu plants, mimosa trees, and those jumping fish.

More spider webs on my Fiero, today.  I need a cleam room.
