We're cleaning off the transmission to be sure which seal.

If I do need the side gasket, which should I get?

You will need both. One looks like a ring. The other is the shape of the side pan.

Since they're threatening snow, I went to see my Fiero.  My Fiero may be out for a while, because the trucks were spaying liquid salt all over the roads.  Looking at the gasket on the bottom pan, there appears to be a 1.5" section of gasket missing.  We ran the engine for 35 minutes on the lift, and no leaks showed.  The transmission is clean.  Rrrgh!  Maybe pressure is not developing, while in park.

Bottom pan would be gravity leak. Once the fluid gets hot enough it’s as thin as water.

The problem actually ended to being damage to the pan.  Some impact work resolved that.  The new gasket seems to be holding.

The axle seals fit fine.  Apparently, this is the pan seal.  I think that's what they said.  The GTRS has a 4-speed auto.

Or not.  The left axle seal failed, and apparently was slightly off in shape.  The inner side should be curved, rather than flat.
