Redirected Search?
« on: June 19, 2012, 01:39:09 pm »
Does anyone else ever encounter this problem?  When clicking on the Georgia Fiero URL, do you ever get redirected to this:

http://search.freeze.com/search.aspx?programid=167&q=gafiero.org%2fdefault.shtml&ApplicationID=00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000&sc=&keywords=&programname=My.Freeze.Com&isFromErrorPage=1&SearchConfigurationID=4&SearchType=3&ApplicationType=2&type=W3i_NA,167,3_6,NA%20Error,00000000,0,0,0,0

Even repeated attempts to get on the Georgia site returns to this same site.  Clicking on any of the links on NetAssistant also returns right back to this site.

Curious.

Nope.  Never happened to me.

Have you tried deleting your cookies from your browser? Might have something "bogus" stuck there.
Be careful deleting cookies. You might also delete saved passwords, site preferences, etc.

I have several programs including Windows Tools that will delete cookies and I run them periodically.  Before posting, I made about a half dozen attempts to get on the website and got redirected.  I disconnected then reconnected and managed to get on and post the above message.  This time, I had no problem in going right to our web page.  This only happens infrequently, but enough to make me concerned that there might be something in the PC.  Just wanted to know if it was an internet happening or just on my computer.

Sounds like you might have some spyware on your computer. Do you use Spybot Search & Destroy & Ad-aware? Those are the two best freeware spyware & adware tools to eliminate those type of problems.

Yes, I have both of those plus MalwareBytes and AVG and another called Advanced SystemCare 5.  Then there is IObit Anti-Malware Fighter.  I have everything turned off and only run on demand except for the AVG and Advanced SystemCare 5 that run in the background.

What this sounds like is a typical "Highjack" of your browser.
One tip I can give you is:
The more Anti-Virus or Anti-Malware programs you install, the more likely you will get infected. Anti-Whatevers usually work against each other and it is recommended to select the one you are most comfortable with and stick with it exclusively.
If memory serves, you are running XP 32 bit, so go download a free app called "ComboFix" and run it. It will find any highjack or rootkits and clean them out.

Would they conflict if they are turned off except when I use them?  The only things actively running is AVG and Advance System Care.

Yes, chances are they would conflict, regardless.
