solo is autocross?

I'm learning something new everyday...like my hobbie has turned into an obsession, and what better way to feed it than to autocross! I've never done it, but sure looks like something the doctor ordered!
anybody got any comments/tips? how/where to get started?

Road Atlanta is a great place.  Contact ARSCCA (Atlanta Regional SCCA).  They run regular events at Road Atlanta.  Their number at the track is 706-894-1284.

SCCA Autocross is where I got my start in (ahem) 1971 in an Opel GT, then in an Opel Manta, and went on to campaign a Dodge Colt GT for 5 years in the Ohio rally championship series (and rally-cross, which is a blast!) and the MONY (Michigan Ohio New York) series.

Most importantly, I made some of my closest friends through SCCA and similar organizations (IMSA, NARRA, FIA, and of course, our own GFC here) along the way; several with whom I still stay in touch. I've visited friends in England and Scotland, staying in their homes, and have hosted some from the UK, Finland and New Zealand. The bonds you can make are indescribable.

SCCA also has a national solo series, and sanction hill climbs, too; so, you won't get bored.

A friend of my brother and I, Bill Dillashaw, was the director.  I haven't spoken with him in a while, but I think he retired from that position.  He raced an 86SE in just about everything possible.  One of our former members, Chuck Willyard also raced an 86SE.  There isn't any difference in the chassis of the notchback and fastback, but the fastback carries a couple hundred extra pounds on the rear end.  Just call them Kim Kardashians.

Ron, for a little warmup session, come up and join us when we do the RFTH rerun in a couple of months.  You can see a sampling of it in the video on our home page or search RFTH or Run For The Hills on YouTube.  CowsPatoot has a number of videos on there.

AutoX is quite literally the cheapest form of racing. Ive been participating in the Atlanta Region on and off the past 2 years, but I am more dedicated to Buccaneer region (Savannah). I started racing in Formula SAE (Collegiate design/built/prepped Open wheel car) and changed to my WRX, since then I bought an 86 Fiero with the 2.5 that will make its debut sometime this season.

Its a real fun cheap hobby, if you plan to go AutoX at some point, let me know!

I just remembered that Gwen Jackson is still with ARSCCA.  Her email is atlantaregioninc@bellsouth.net  Her office number is 770-455-7222.  She can fill you in on PDX and SCCA events.  For the PDX, if you will come up and work the corners during race day, you can do the PDX for free, plus you get to see 3 days of racing for free.
