When and where can I get the engine?

I have the Red Car at my Place with Ron's Cherry Picker. I have yet to pull an engine so I will be learning. My question is when we are done can I still roll the car? - I assume until told otherwise that the Transmission and Cradle are staying with the car.

I am in Acworth; I believe I have enough tools to take the engine out. If there are any special tools let me know.

If the motor is pulled from the top, you can still move it. If the cradle is dropped, then not so easy till its put back under the car.

The cradle and suspension system can be rolled on it's own wheels as long as the axle stubs are left in the hub.  Some have used a big bolt, washer or plate and nut to hold the bearing assembly in place, sans axle stubs.  Rolling the cradle without the stubs in place and torqued will destroy the bearings in just a few feet.  Given the availability of good replacement hubs, I'd say they're worth saving if possible.

I'm willing to help, but if you want to get started before I'm available (not sure when right now), check out this document.

Anyone purchasing parts, please give this a thought.

If you remove the part from the car, use the Pull-A-Part link above as your pricing guide.

If the part has already been removed from the car, consider offering a little more for the efforts and time someone else put forward.  Money from this car will help to fund the 88 GT Wounded Warrior Project Car.

I will submit a bid on the headlight motors at $18 each.
Coolant rails--I couldn't find anything similar in the price list, so I'll bid $20 each.
Main instrument cluster--$30.

I have the cluster but the temp/fuel gauge had lost it's light shield.  I couldn't use it so I'll return the cluster.
I didn't take the coolant rails and won't be getting them.

Does it have a/c?  I need a whole a/c system front to back, including compressor, brackets, and all associated wiring.

It has AC of unknown condition.  The underside of the car was beaten up a little and the AC lines were not fully secured to the pan, if I recall.

DANGER WILL ROBINSON DANGER!!!

You do NOT want an old compressor! (These aren't the droids you're looking for.)
You can still use it as a core though. Any compressor from a Fiero is so worn out that they are not worth rebuilding.
Most any compressor is like that anyway and would cost more to rebuild and then you would have to get it fixed
again in 6 months.

If you can find a used one from a 2013 or 2014 vehicle that is interchangeable go for it.
A SANDEN SD508 is one of the best (if you can find one.) They are usually on non-American
cars.

Google SANDEN for more info and also Google 'parallel tube' condensers. They are made especially
for R-134 and have greater flow and surface area for better cooling. However, they are easier to clog
so you want to be as certain as possible that everything is VERY clean.

You will need a NEW dehydrator, high pressure switch and filter anyway. Tubes, brackets and don't
forget the interior controls and I do not know if the box under the dash has to come out. Likely it will
because you have to add the evaporator.

I'm not trying to rain on your parade but this is a job that requires your ducks be in a row and
I'd hate to see you get messed up like I've seen others. Research everything before you begin.

You can't fix stupid but, you can adjust it with a 2x4.

Ok. Thanks.  I've done plenty-o-work in the ac dept...  well versed and already initiated!  My plan is to hook everything up, then once fitted, then fit a new compressor and receiver/dryer.  Off course, all plumbing and suchwill be tthoroughly cleaned before operation.  I would need the air box (suitcase) under the dash, along with the controls and and associated wiring.  That's what i meant by "front to back" .  But if you guys say it is in bad shape, then Nevermind.
How about the sub woofer system?  I know the woofer is gone, but what about the housing, the sub amp and the wiring?  I'm interested in that too.  If no housing, ok.  Because i can make my own.....maybe ???
