Wheel Interchange List
« Reply #1 on: October 31, 2012, 06:11:31 pm »
The question often comes up "Will these wheels fit my Fiero?" or "What other wheels will fit my Fiero?"  Here is an updated list of stock wheels that will interchange.

What car's bolt pattern is 5x100?
Best Answer.  These are the wheels that present no issues.
BUICK SKYLARK 1989-ON 5x100

CHEVY CAVALIER, CORSICA / BERETTA 1989-ON 5x100

CHRYSLER SEBRING, CIRRUS 1996-ON 5x100

DODGE STRATUS, SHADOW, DAYTONA, GLH, SPIRIT, CARAVAN, NEON 1994-ON 5x100

Scion tC 05-08

Potential Matches-These wheels may need wheel-centric rings or may need the wheel center opened up to fit the Fiero hub.  Clearance of the suspension or body may also be of issue on some wheels, depending upon tire size and model Fiero.

There are three kinds of men:

1.    The ones that learn by reading.
2.    The few who learn by observation.
3.    The rest of them have to pee on the electric fence and find out for themselves.    Will Rogers

Just in general, anything GM or Dodge, with the right bolt circle, should bolt up.
That's assuming there is enough clearance to suit the offsets, and nothing interferes on the back side.

Subaru wheels have a 56.1 mm centerbore. They will have to be bored to 57.1 to fit our cars.
Toyota and Scion wheels will have to be bored even more, but lots of people have done it.

For the "ideal" fit, just about anything that will fit on a Volkswagen "New Beetle" will work just fine on a Fiero - within reason. Their offsets are quite similar. (~35mm)
The lone exception is the front of an 88, with its goofy offset. For that, anything that will work on a ~2005 Subaru Impreza will look best on the front of an 88. (~40-48mm)  Just be careful of the "Subaru-specific" wheels that will have to be bored out.

Most aftermarket wheels have a centerbore of 70-something mm, and use hub-centric rings to fit the appropriate hub.

OPTION CODES

Sometimes it is necessary to consult the list of "option codes" on your Fiero to determine which specific parts it contained as-built by the factory. For example, it is difficult to know the capacity of an alternator by looking at it. The list of option codes (also called RPO or Regular Production Option codes) provides this information. The option codes are printed on a sticker called the "Service Parts Identification Label" located on the left front fender well next to the spare tire. (This label is often referred to as the "RPO Tag" or "RPO Label".) Here is what the codes mean:

WA-NNNN (N = any number) code on the bottom of the RPO tag is the Fisher Body "WA" paint number. (Fisher Body is the division of GM that produced and painted the car body.) Use this number when buying equivalent paint from any paint supplier. Touch-up paint suppliers such as PlastiKote and Dupli-Color also use this number as a cross-reference. Use the cross-reference manual found by the paint display in your auto parts store to obtain the correct spray can or bottle for your car.

Note that the two digit numbers in the above list (14, 18, 40, 81, etc.) are also paint codes. Some GM cross-references use this number also. If you see something like "81U/16L" it means the upper portion of the Fiero is "81" or Bright Red and the lower portion of the car (ground effects) is "16", Silver Metallic.

TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETINS
In this section we list the Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs) that have been issued by GM which are deemed to apply to the Fiero. GM issues lots of TSBs. TSBs are recommended repair or maintenance procedures specifically addressed to GM mechanics and service personnel. Do not confuse a TSB with a recall. A recall has government-mandated provisions that relate to safety which must be observed for specific vehicles. GM and the US government make recall information freely available to the public, but GM is under no obligation to share TSBs. In fact TSBs are copyrighted and cannot be freely published. Thus we do not have specific wording from TSBs on this web site. All we have is the general description of the TSB as provided by AllData (http://www.alldatadiy.com/TSB/48/88481211.html).

If you are interested in reading a specific TSB, you can purchase it on-line via AllData, you can get it from your friendly local GM dealer (maybe), or in some cases, you can get it via your local library.

Any specific TSB on the list may apply to many GM cars besides the Fiero. Some of the TSBs will not apply to the Fiero and we do not know why AllData (the source of our information) included them. (I.e. - "Power Antenna Will Not Retract".) Nevertheless, we have maintained the list in its entirety.

Below is the alphabetic listing of 336 TSBs published as of April 2010. We find many of them intriguing and wish we had specific information that we could share.

A/C CONDENSER
All Fieros use the same A/C condenser. No other cars used an identical condenser. Aftermarket replacements are available from conventional parts suppliers such as The Fiero Store, NAPA, AC-direct.com, and Rock Auto (rockauto.com). The OEM part number is 3050988 and the AC Delco part number is 15-6509. Depending on where you shop, the price is $140 to $270, so look around.

A/C COMPRESSOR & DRYER
A/C compressors can be rebuilt, exchanged for equivalent re-manufactured units, or purchased new. While new is more expensive than used, we recommend new since it is difficult to determine the quality of a used compressor by simple inspection. Installing a used compressor only to find it is defective is not a pleasant exercise.

In a nutshell, the compressors which came stock with the Fiero are as follows:

'84-85 2.5L ---- DA6 or HR6HE
'86    2.5L ----  V5
'87-88 2.5L ----  V5
'85-87 2.8L ---- DA6
'88    2.8L ---- HR6

When purchasing a replacement compressor you will find that parts stores may not provide the exact unit that originally came with the Fiero because technology has improved, some parts are no longer available, and because of the government mandate to use R134-a refrigerant. Part numbers for replacement compressors are as follows:

'84-85 2.5L ---- GM 1136465 or AC Delco 15-20241
'86    2.5L ---- GM 1135192 or AC Delco 15-20084
'87-88 2.5L ---- GM 1135191 or AC Delco 15-20085
'85-88 2.8L ---- GM 1136478 or AC Delco 15-20248
Note that '84-85 Fieros were fitted with two different compressors in their lifetime, the DA6 with a 5.125" pulley and the HR6HE with a 5.75" pulley. The DA6 is obsolete. If you are replacing an old DA6, use the HR6 which is the part number shown above.

A good writeup with information on the compressor high/low pressure switches can be found at this link: http://www.fiero.nl/forum/Forum2/HTML/117640.html

'84-85 2.5L w/5.75" Pulley: The compressor for this Fiero is the HR6HE (Harrison Redesigned High Efficiency 6 cylinder). It is 9.3" long, 4.6" diameter and weighs 12.6 pounds. The vehicles listed below had the HR6HE as well as other compressor options, so finding a used compressor may not be as simple as finding a potential donor vehicle. In general, an exact replacement may not be necessary to achieve adequate cooling. If a compressor will fit it may be worth trying.

Pontiac Astro               '85-86 2.5L
Chevy Blazer S10/Jimmy S15  '85-86 2.5L
Camaro                      '83-85 2.5L
Firebird                    '83-85 2.5L
Chevy S10/S15/Sonoma        '85-86 2.5L
GM Safari                   '85-86 2.5L
'84-85 w/5.125" Pulley: This compressor is the DA6, unique to the '84-85 Fiero. It came with either one or two switches. If replacement is necessary the AC Delco unit listed above is suggested. In general, an exact replacement may not be necessary to achieve adequate cooling. If a compressor will fit it may be worth trying.

'86 2.5L: This A/C compressor is the GM V5 and is unique to the '86 2.5L Fiero. The uniqueness is in the combination of built-in switches and pulley. The switch on the rear of the compressor is plugged and it has a 4.93" pulley. (Some sources say the pulley is 5.125".) If replacement is necessary the AC Delco unit listed above is suggested. In general, an exact replacement may not be necessary to achieve adequate cooling. If a compressor will fit it may be worth trying.
'87-88 2.5L: This compressor is the GM V5 and is unique to the '87-88 2.5L Fiero. It has a 4.29" pulley (some sources say 4.33") and one switch in the rear of the compressor. The following compressors may be worth trying in the '87-88 2.5L Fiero by changing the pulley, clutch, and switches as necessary. Some of the donor compressors may have a plug in place of one switch. In general, an exact replacement may not be necessary to achieve adequate cooling. If a compressor will fit it may be worth trying.

If you want to convert the V5 compressor to R134a, note that it has a control valve on the side which should be changed to suit the new refrigerant. The valve can be obtained from a number of sources, notable from A/Ction Air (action-ac.com), their part number 31-55302.

Chevy Beretta               '87-89 2.0L
Chevy Beretta               '90-91 2.2L
Chevy Cavalier              '87-89 2.0L
Chevy Cavalier              '90-91 2.2L O-ring on suction port
Buick Century                  '93    2.2L
Olds Ciera                     '93    2.2L
Chevy Corsica               '87-89 2.0L
Olds Firenza                   '87    2.0L w/ OHC
Olds Firenza                   '88    w/o OHC
Buick Skyhawk               '87-88 w/o OHC
Pontiac Tempest             '87-89 2.0L
Pontiac Tempest             '90-91 2.2L
'85-87 2.8L: There is some confusion on our part about the compressor for these Fieros. The Hollander manuals say the compressor is the HR6HE (Harrison Redesigned High Efficiency 6 cylinder). The Pontiac "22P" manual refers to the compressor as the Harrison "DA6" (Downsized Axial 6 cylinder) and we believe the latter to be correct for the factory-installed unit. Our research indicates the exterior of the two compressors is identical. Our belief is the HR6HE is a recommended upgrade. The DA6 compressor has two electrical connections on the back end. Note that the DA6 is not considered a good candidate for conversion to R134-a refrigerant, probably because of the higher pressures encountered.

The vehicles listed below are from Hollander and are in reference to the HR6HE compressor. While the compressors originally in the cars below were probably not the HR6HE, odds are they had the same original compressor as the Fiero. Finding a compressor may not be as simple as finding a potential donor vehicle. In general, an exact replacement may not be necessary to achieve adequate cooling. If a compressor will fit it may be worth trying. Compressors from other Fieros are good candidates for swaps, but brackets my have to be transferred along with the compressor.

Pontiac Astro               '85-86 2.5L
Chevy Blazer S10/Jimmy S15  '85-86 2.5L
Camaro                      '83-85 2.5L
Firebird                    '83-85 2.5L
GMC S10/S15/Sonoma          '85-86 2.5L
GMC Safari                  '85-86 2.5L

'88 2.8L: The compressor for this Fiero is the Harrison HR6 (Harrison Redesigned internally DA6) with a 5.4" pulley. It is physically identical to the DA6 with two electrical connections. It is a good candidate for conversion to R134-a refrigerant. The AC Delco part number for the current replacement compressor is shown above. Cars which had the same original compressor are:

Pontiac Grand Am            '87-89 2.0L
Buick Skyhawk                  '86 1.8L VIN "J" (8th digit)
Buick Skyhawk                  '87 OHC, turbocharged
Pontiac Sunbird             '86-89 turbocharged
A/C Dryer (Accumulator), '84: We have no GM part number for the '84 dryer but have been advised by Fiero owner Bill Strickland that AutoZone and Parts America carry a replacement. It is Ready-Aire 4370N. The '84 dryer is the same size and appearance as later years. However the inlet and outlet lines are 180 degrees apart and the low pressure cutout port is in the location of the main inlet for dryers used in '85-88. The dryer is available at AutoZone for $12 as of August 2008.

A/C Dryer (Accumulator), '85-88: The original GM part number for the '85-88 dryer is 3059313 but this has been superceded by part number 2724666. An aftermarket version is Factory Air/Four Seasons part number 33181 typically available at Pep Boys and similar parts stores. AC Delco part numbers which also work are 15-1392 and 15-1670. AutoZone and Parts America have a replacement under their part number 4392N by Ready-Aire. Old dryers should not be re-used since their ability to remove moisture is depleted.

ALTERNATOR
If you do not know which alternator came with your Fiero, check the Option Codes sticker on the left front fender well next to the spare tire. Then look up your alternator type on the Option Codes page of this web site.

We do not recommend installing an unknown used alternator except as a matter of expediency. With today's improved electronics we suggest you get the alternator rebuilt by a professional rebuilder using an upgraded diode set. (Remanufactured alternators from parts suppliers are typically built to minimize cost, not optimize quality.) We have had 145 amp diode sets installed in two Fiero alternators at a cost of $75 each. Results have been very satisfactory.

Repairing an alternator can be done at home if you are handy. "How To" procedures are prolific on the Web; a Google search will reveal dozens of good tutorials and we have a good article on alternators in the Tech Articles section of this site. The most frequent alternator failure is the "diode trio". Rockauto.com Sells the diode trio for under $4. The part is #D11, Standard brand.

'84-87 66 Amp: This alternator was used in both 2.5L and 2.8L engines. The cars listed below had other alternator choices besides the 66 amp, so an exact match is not guaranteed. Alternators of higher capacity can be used in place of the 66 amp if they fit.

ANTENNA
The Fiero antenna is a fixed-mount wire that is common to many GM vehicles of the same vintage. The antenna base is threaded making it simple to remove/install. Replacement antennas for all years can be found at auto parts stores under the "Champ" brand, part number 9-1518. Used antennas are readily available in salvage yards.

Electric antennas can be mounted to the Fiero with a little work. An example is at www.fierosails.com/ElectricAntenna.html

AXLE SHAFTS, CV BOOTS
Axle shafts from donor cars can be used in a Fiero only if transmissions are similar. That is, axles from a manual transmission cannot be used in an automatic transmission and vice-versa.

'84 Manual Transmission: The axles in the '84 Fiero were unique and not used in any other car. Replacements available only from donor Fieros or specialty shops. Left and right sides will not swap.
'84 Automatic Transmission: Same as '84 manual transmission.

FIERO ELECTRIC ANTENNA
For a long time we wanted an electric antenna on our '88 GT to make it easier to use a car cover. However we were told many times that an electric antenna would not fit. When we found a good electric antenna in a salvage yard we decided to try installing it despite the warnings. To our surprise the antenna fit rather easily. Pictures below show the installation.

Antenna fairing with tip of antenna showing.

There are a few points worth noting about the installation:

(1) The electric antenna is from a 1996 Mazda 626. There is nothing special about this antenna but its bottom mounting feature is convenient. As far as we can determine no separate antenna relay is required. We could not find a relay on the donor car and our antenna works fine without one. We belive the antenna motor is turned on/off at its lower/upper limits via solid-state current sensing, much like the headlight motors in the '87-88 Fiero.

If you want to try an electric antenna and can't find a Mazda 626, a very similar antenna was seen in a '94 Nissan Altima. It looks identical to the Mazda except for the antenna cable attachment. It also appears other '90s Japanese cars use similar antennas but we have not pulled them to compare. The antenna from a '96 Olds Cutlass Supreme seems to be an even better choice. It looks smaller but has the same bottom mounting bosses. It also does not require an antenna relay. A nice unit; wish we had seen it first!

(2) In addition to the coaxial cable to receive signals, there are three wires from the antenna assembly which must be connected: a ground, +12 volts (available at all times), and +12 volts from the radio. This latter +12 volts turns on and off with the radio. Most factory radios have this voltage available specifically for electric antennas. When the radio is turned on, the antenna raises. When the radio is off, the antenna lowers. If you have a radio without the switched voltage it would be simple to find switched +12 volts somewhere in the car wiring. That would mean the antenna would be up whenever the ignition is on as opposed to just when the radio is on.

(3) The telescoping antenna collapses inside a metal tube attached to the antenna motor housing. The tube has a short length of coaxial antenna cable with a female plug-in connector on the end which feeds a signal to the radio. This requires a mating male connector on the coaxial cable from the Fiero radio. We found the male connector on a Mazda but also saw it in the salvage yard on Hondas and Toyotas.

(4) The bracket for mounting the antenna is home-made from 1/8" thick aluminum because that's what we had on hand. The bracket is held in place by one of the door bolt hinges; no drilling into the car body is required. There is a dimensioned drawing of the bracket in the last photo.

(5) The fairing where the antenna exits the fender is from an Olds Cutlass Ciera. The fairing is found on the '86-88 Olds Cutlass Ciera and Ciera station wagon, and on the '86-'93 Buick Century. The fairing is three pieces, a chromed metal bezel, a gasket which installs between the bezel and fender, and a plastic tube that inserts vertically in the bezel. (We painted all parts red.) The fairing assembly must be fastened to the car body or it will fall out. Instead of making a hole in the slanted portion of the Fiero body to mount the fairing, we attached a scrap of 1/8" thick aluminum to the body. Then we mounted everything and drilled a hole in the aluminum to fix the fairing in exactly the right spot.

Other antenna fairings should also work. We saw possibilities on an '88 Cadillac Cimarron, an Audi, and some Japanese cars. It is also possible to use a fairing that extends above the fender like the chimmney on a roof.

(6) The antenna system fits under the fender perfectly but there is no wiggle room. The length of the antenna tube was shortened 0.5" to avoid interference between the top of the tube and the inside of the fender. Some protrusions were ground off the antenna tube to avoid interference with the inner surface of the fender. The antenna retaining nut (it screws to the top of the antenna tube) was ground flat on one side for the same reason.

(7) Wiring enters the car interior via a weatherproof rubber grommet which is from an '86 Olds Cutlass Ciera. It has passages for the antenna cable and three control wires. It is likely that any car with an electric antenna on the front fender will have a similar grommet; finding one in a salvage yard should be easy. The antenna cable through-hole in the Fiero had to be enlarged for the new grommet.

We will happily answer questions at the e-mail address below.

Antenna mounted in place.

Antenna just clears the fender well & door.

Antenna mounting bracket, top.

Antenna mounting bracket, bottom.

A plumb bob was used to locate where to cut the hole in the fender. First the antenna was installed in its final location with the fender removed. A plumb bob was located precisely over the antenna and the wheels were blocked to insure the car did not move at all.

The antenna was removed WITHOUT moving the plumb bob, the fender installed, and the plumb bob used to locate the template for cutting the hole. This worked perfectly.

This is the through-hole grommet in the car body.

This is the tag on the antenna:

BODY PANELS
The body panels are unique to the Fiero and were not used on any other cars. Outer '84 door panels attach differently and do not interchange with other year Fieros. All other body panels will swap, although the deck lid in '84 is a different style from other years.

Front and rear fascias vary with models. The '86-88 GT and all other '88s had round trim on the "belt line" and other years had ribbed trim. The trim piece is molded into the front and rear fascias. Use of a round-trim fascia on a ribbed-trim car is feasible but may look odd.

The '84 has an entirely different door skin (cannot be added to later doors) and dew wipe (not available).

Door skin compatibility is the same '85-'88.

Rocker panels interchange among all years although some vary depending on model. For example, one style rocker panel was used on 1984 Indy, 1985 GT/SE, 1987 SE, and the 1986-88 GT. Different rocker panels were used on the Coupes and Formula.

The "aero molding" or "ground effects" panels were used on the Indy, GTs, and '87 SE models. These panels swap among all years and may be installed on cars which were not so equipped from the factory. Mounting holes are required in the body panels to accommodate the ground effects panels.

The wing or spoiler on the Fiero is blow-molded Bexley resin made in two pieces and glued together. Spoiler cracks or breaks should be repaired with flexible epoxies such as those used for RIM or R-RIM (see below). Punctures or gouges should be repaired with epoxy fiberglass resin and glass cloth.

GM called the Fiero body panels "Enduraflex". There is no material known as "Enduraflex". This is a marketing term. Four different types of reinforced composite plastic are used in Fiero body panels:

SMC Sheet Molded Compound was used for the hood, roof, rear upper quarter, and rear decklid.

RRIM Reinforced Reaction Injection Molded urethane was used for fenders, door panels, and lower rear quarters. The rear lowers were later changed to injection molded nylon.

RIM Reaction Injected Molded urethane was used for front and rear fascias.

TPO Thermoplastic Olefin was used for rocker panels.

Bexley Resin Blow-Molded by DuPont This material (not fiberglass) was used for the spoiler or "wing" on all Fieros as far as we know. The supports are made of TPO.

Conventional "Bondo" (polyester resin) should not be used to repair any Fiero body panel. Repair products should specifically state they are compatible with the body panel material. I.e.: "Suitable for SMC repairs."

Any competent body shop can handle repairs to the Fiero body panels. Shops which specialize in body repair for Saturns would be particularly capable since the Saturn uses similar body materials.

Since new body panels rarely turn up on the market, the best source for them is a donor vehicle. Check the "Parts Sources" page for suppliers.

Engine Vents: The deck lid vents on the '84 Fiero were made of magnesium and were spectacular when they caught fire! Subsequent years used aluminum.

For those interested, the body panels of the Fiero were made in the following locations:

Front Fascia   - RRIM supplied by GM Canada
Hood           - SMC supplied by General Tire and Rubber
Headlamp Doors - SMC supplied by GTR
Front Fenders  - RRIM supplied by Oldsmobile
Roof           - SMC supplied by Premix
Door Panel     - RRIM supplied by Oldsmobile

BRAKE COMPONENTS
BRAKE ROTORS, FRONT

'84-87 The front brake rotors are unique to the '84-87 Fiero and were not used in other cars. OEM and aftermarket replacements are readily available.

'88 The front brake rotors are unique to the '88 Fiero and were not used in other cars. GM and aftermarket rotors are available but tend to be expensive. It may be cost effective to move '88 rear rotors to the front. See Brake Rotors, Rear, '88.

BRAKE ROTORS, REAR

'84-87 The rear brake rotors are unique to the '84-87 Fiero and were not used in other cars. OEM and aftermarket replacements are readily available.

If you have an '84-87 Fiero, you can use the front rotor and caliper from a late '80s Grand Am. If you do that you have no parking brake. You can use the rear caliper from an '80-85 Seville with the Grand Am rotor and have a parking brake, but you must fabricate a mount for it.

'88 The rear brake rotors are unique to the '88 Fiero and were not used in other cars. OEM and aftermarket rotors are available but can be hard to find and expensive. Rear '88 rotors can be replaced by rotors from a '93 Cavalier with 2.2 SFI engine at a cost of under $20 per rotor. The Cavalier rotors are slightly thicker than Fiero rotors and may require the brake pads to be reduced in thickness. The Cavalier rotors will not fit the front hub in the '88 Fiero, only the rear.

We have read but cannot confirm that brake rotors for the 1988 Corvette will fit the rear of the '88 Fiero.

HUB, FRONT

'88 The front hub in the '88 Fiero contains the front wheel bearing and is made as a sealed assembly which is not serviceable. This hub is no longer available from GM but new units can be obtained from fierostore.com or rodneydickman.com.

HUB, REAR

'84-88 The rear hub identification number is 513-011K. The following vehicles had the same hubs, but note they are front hubs:

Pontiac 6000        '82   front
Pontiac 6000     '83-89   front, 100 mm B.C.
Chevy Celebrity     '82   front
Chevy Celebrity  '83-89   front, 100 mm B.C.
Buick Century       '82   front
Buick Century    '83-89   front, 100 mm B.C.
Olds Ciera          '82   front

CALIPERS, FRONT

'84 The front calipers in the '84 Fiero are unique and not used in other cars. While not identical, front calipers from '85-87 Fieros will fit. Rebuild kits are available.

'85-87 The front calipers in the '85-87 Fiero are unique and not used in other cars. While not identical, front calipers from the '84 Fiero will fit. Rebuild kits are available.

'88 The front calipers in the '88 Fiero are unique and not used in other cars. Rebuild kits are available.

NOTE: Cars with same front caliper pistons (that's pistons only, not calipers) as '88 Fiero:

'88-93 Pontiac Pontiac LeMans, Pontiac Tempest, and GTO

'88-90 Toyota Tercel
'82-89 Toyota Tercel except Aisin caliper from 8/82
'96-98 Toyota Paseo except ABS equipped
'86-90 Nissan Pulsar twin cam diesel, front brakes

Nissan Sentra, Nissan NX 1600, and Nissan 2000 Coupe have same front caliper pistons as '88 Fiero as follows:
 '91-94 2.0L engine
 '86-90 S/W
 '86-88 Sedan, diesel
Calipers can be rebuilt by calipersonline.com

CALIPERS, REAR

'84-87 The rear calipers in the '84-87 Fiero are unique and not used in other cars. Rebuild kits are available.

'88 The rear calipers in the '88 Fiero were used only on one other car, the '88-90 Pontiac 6000 AWD. Rebuild kits are available. AC Delco part number for rear calipers is 18R767 right rear and 18R768 left

Calipers can be rebuilt by calipersonline.com

NOTE: Car with same rear caliper pistons (that's pistons only, not calipers) as '85-87 Fiero: '84-89 Pontiac STE with rear disc brakes.

DUST CAPS, FRONT WHEEL

'84-88 The dust caps cover the nut which retains the front wheel to the axle. Replacements are 1-9/16" diameter and fit not only GM cars but Ford, Chrysler, Toyota and VW. Aftermarket caps are made by Motormite, part number 13976

MASTER CYLINDER

BRAKE HOSES

As far as we can determine, no other cars used the same flexible brake hoses (the ones that attach to the calipers) as the Fiero. This does not seem right to us. We suspect that there are indeed other brake hoses that will fit but just have not found them. In fact Aaron Trent found that the left rear brake hose on his '86 GT can be replaced by a left front brake hose from a '92 Honda Accord. Arron had to re-use his old copper washer and banjo bolt, but it worked fine. Thanks, Aaron, for this tip. Note that the '86-88 Fieros used the same left rear brake hose, so the hose from the Honda Accord would fit these three years, not just the '86.

Some of the brake hoses in the Fiero were used more than one year. Using the GM part numbers as a basis, the following Fiero years will swap:

'84 Right front brake hose is unique
'84 Left front brake hose is unique
'84-87 Right rear brake hose is the same
'84-85 Left rear brake hose is the same
'85-88 Right front brake hose is the same
'85-87 Left front brake hose is the same
'86-88 Left rear brake hose is the same
'88 Right rear brake hose is unique
'88 Left front brake hose is unique
For the '88 Fiero (sorry we don't have info on other years), the following part numbers apply to the brake hoses:

HOSE          AC DELCO #      GM #    WAGNER #  RAYBESTOS #  AUTO SPECIALTY #
Front, Left    18J668      18032379   F116843    BH38654        HB-80266
Front, Right   18J669      18032378   F116844    BH38653        HB-80267
Rear,  Left    18J652      18032363   F120873    BH38638        HB-82346
Rear,  Right   18J653      18032364   F120874    BH38639        HB-82347
While the above numbers are for '88, note that the '85-88 right front is the same, and '86-88 left rear is the same.
